Job description
We are looking to recruit a Senior Band 7 Biomedical Scientist trained in Haematology to join our laboratory team at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) based at Weston General Hospital.
The laboratory team at WGH is integrated as Blood Sciences and the right candidate will be able to put their own unique stamp on the work they do, with a higher level of responsibility andday to day managementof Haematology.
This is an exciting time for Blood Sciences due to in current implementation of new technology, in which the successful candidate, will take responsibility for the integration of the new equipment within the Haematology section.

The successful applicant will have HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist and a Masters degree or equivalent experience in Haematology.
This is an opportunity to work in one of 2 friendly laboratories that provide excellent training and further studying opportunities for the right candidate.
The postholder will be an efficient and flexible team member providing a high quality diagnostic service through scientific and technical activities commensurate with the training and education of a Biomedical Scientist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
There will be a requirement to work OOH shifts.
1. Responsible for the day to day organisation and management of the work and staff of the Haematology department.
2. Ensure compliance with good work practices in accordance with the standards of ISO15189 requirements
3. To ensure satisfactory completion, technical validation and scientific interpretation of the diagnostic results within the section
4. Manage and monitor maintenance on routine and complex equipment. Provide specialist support for staff to troubleshoot faults and take appropriate action to maintain a service.
5. Provide and receive specialist scientific and technical knowledge, to and from staff and service users
