THE GIG
Working in a fast-paced team for the Senior Financial Accountant EMEA, the Senior Assistant Accountant – EMEA will be expected to help maintain the general ledger for all EMEA entities in Continental Europe.
As our Senior Assistant Accountant, you will be responsible for:
- Assisting the Senior Financial Accountant with the maintenance of the EMEA ledgers in accordance with group and local statutory accounting requirements.
- Assistance with the implementation, maintenance and improvement of robust month end processes and internal controls; meeting the demands of a rapidly growing business.
- Working with the Senior Financial Accountant on completion of month end tasks in line with the high-level month end timetable and the detailed month end checklists.
- Liaising with peers (Transactional Finance Team in Cobb’s and the EMEA Finance Team in Camden) ensuring that the ledgers are correct and that all entities can meet the respective group period end deadlines.
- Preparing monthly balance sheet reconciliations to a high standard in line with internal deadlines including identification and subsequent resolution of any issues.
- Assisting with the half year, interim and year end audit process with preparation of information for external auditors.
- Supporting with the local statutory accounts under local GAAP across Continental Europe.
- Identifying and flagging any issues promptly to the Senior Financial Accountant EMEA including any risks or opportunities identified for the group.
- Striving to create efficiencies in the day to day working practices of your role.
- Offering cover and assistance to the wider finance team and assist in any other ad hoc projects as required, including exploring better ways of working with the EMEA Finance team.

THE STUFF THAT SETS YOU APART
Put simply, for this role the key things we’re looking for are:
- Current study for a relevant financial qualification (ACA/ACCA)
- Experience working in a Finance Department role with involvement in preparing balance sheet reconciliations
- Microsoft Dynamics (D365), retail, multi-currency, multi-site, foreign language skills & experience of working with European subsidiaries highly desirable
- Good understanding of business structure and the importance of accuracy of nominal ledger postings
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
- Strong investigatory, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail
- The ability to work under tight deadlines within a small team and help others within the team wherever possible
- A proactive approach to work and a desire to streamline processes to increase productivity across the team.
- A strong communicator, this person will be liaising with colleagues in continental Europe to ensure that we are complying with the local laws and regulations
