Job description
We are looking for a Personal Finance Editor to join us at Express Online. We are keen to speak with candidates that are ready to lead our teams of content writers in delivering content which informs, inspires, indulges and informs our readers about their local lives.
As our Personal Finance Editor you will be responsible for managing content, developing teams and ensuring audience targets are delivered every month.
We’re looking for fresh ideas and new perspectives from people from a wide range of backgrounds, and we want you to tell us the stories you believe are important from our many communities so we can continue to diversify our content.

This role is home and hub based linked to our London Hub. We are therefore open to candidates based in and around London.
What will the role involve?
You will oversee the editorial team to achieve digital audience growth and engagement targets, ensuring that resources at all levels in the newsroom are clearly focused and managed as effectively as possible to deliver digital targets.
Creating an environment that encourages new ideas for digital content that will drive audience growth and engagement while ensuring that enhanced planning processes are thoroughly embedded in the newsroom and enable us to drive audience growth and commercial performance.
You will be responsible for ensuring effective use of social media tools by newsroom staff, acting as brand champion of our brands while playing an ambassadorial role for the Express and the business as a whole, in person and via social media. You will develop a culture of trust, where people are safe to speak up, clear on their role in the team’s success and empowered to be their best at work.
Who are we looking for?
An experienced journalist with your NCTJ or equivalent qualification and exceptional media law knowledge who can ensure all content is legally and IPSO compliant. You will be a capable, assured and experienced digital media expert and will have worked at a national or major regional level before. You will manage a talented, driven team with ease, and be able to support and direct in a pressured and frequently changing environment.
You have a sharp eye for a story and aren’t afraid to make choices, with the ability and personality to inspire and motivate the team. You have first rate communication skills, both written and verbal, a strong understanding of the unique nature of digital news along with a genuine passion for breaking stories and to present them in the best possible way across multiple platforms.
