Kingston is a beautiful Royal borough with a historic setting on the banks of the Thames with excellent schools and a bustling retail centre, all surrounded by open green spaces such as Richmond Park and Bushey Park, former recreation grounds for Tudor Kings and Queens. The Council is controlled by a Liberal Democrat Administration and has a council plan “Greener, Fairer, Safer, Together”, that sets out a vision to be a vibrant, diverse and inclusive borough where residents are active, empowered, engaged and able to remain independent and resilient. The Council engages with residents through a number of forums and events through the year, and like Sutton plays a leading role in developing the South West Region of London.
Working within the Shared Finance Service Accounts Receivable Team to maximise the daily income collection and enforcement process to both Councils through effective, responsive processing activity.
- Deliver core service activities under the close supervision of a more senior member of staff.
- Manage the resolution of complex customer complaints/issues within area of expertise, escalating where appropriate.
- Maintain regular communication with other internal or external service providers to ensure efficient and coordinated service delivery.
- Experience of Credit control/debt collection is essential and Adult social care experience preferable
- To monitor debts, liaise with and provide essential information to Directorates responsible for Adult Social Care.
The Shared Finance Service ambition is to add value, inspire success and this role is part of the Shared Finance Service (SFS) team collectively responsible for delivering SFS activities to realise this ambition.
This role will work within the Shared Finance Service Accounts Receivable Team, maximising the daily income collection and enforcement process to both Councils through effective, responsive processing activity. This post will be one of 2 posts specifically managing the Adult Social Care debt recovery, but may also be required to assist in the billing, collection and recovery of sundry debt, BIDS/CIL and Housing Benefit Overpayments in line with legislation
- A minimum of 5 GCSEs (including English & Maths) or equivalent (IRRV/Benefits Technician)
- Experience of the Care Act and charging policies in a large finance operation
- Experience of supervising staff. Able to work effectively under pressure, organise priorities and in a ‘lone working’ environment
- Able to effectively deal with potentially aggressive/volatile situations involving customers and members of the public.
- Experience of planning and delivering training sessions
- Experience of working in a customer-focused environment and achieving successful outcomes in the delivery of services that meet customer needs
