Job Description Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Markets Operations Middle Office team within Markets & Lending Delivery who provide support to both Commercial Banking and Group Corporate Treasury in management of Derivatives, FX and Credit Products ensuring trade integrity and revenue protection.Our teams in Middle Office work closely with our Front Office Partners providing advisory support and lifecycle management. We support clients globally and LBG teams in London, across the UK and our New York offices. This role also requires a close working relationship with key partners and the ability to meet the challenges of a dynamic trading environment. You'll help support the day to day running and tasks assigned to the team and have the chance to grow your product knowledge and partner management skills.
Job Description
Markets & Lending Delivery provide product, middle and back office support for the customers of Corporate & Institutional Banking, Business and Commercial Banking and Group Corporate Treasury. Market Settlement is one of the group’s highest rated Critical Business processes and part of the engine of the UK economy.
You'll be joining the Markets Transaction team, where our people support colleagues across the business to manage the flow of derivative and foreign exchange trades. The team is close knit and technically skilled with the opportunity to get involved in a range of different activities. The work is multifaceted and no day is the same so over time a candidate has an excellent opportunity to build knowledge.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborating closely to discuss and collaboratively tackle OTC challenges
- Provide Trade Support services to the Derivatives Business, this includes both OTC and Exchange traded Derivatives.
- Work closely with technology, establish required system improvements, drive prioritisation and plan/lead change for the function.
- Identification and implementation of operational improvements, as a result of errors, changing market practices / requirements, volume changes, or efficiency opportunities
- Understand and adhere to requirements of regulatory regimes and corporate policies and procedures.
- Provide regular updates to Operations management
- Provide a professional service to all internal and external clients, and constructive input to work ongoing in other areas.
- Assist with the evolution of the Derivatives Support function, evaluate the go-forward operating model and enable new business initiatives.
- Contribute towards simplifying any complex, inefficient process' and show tangible improvement
- Ensure the functions regulatory responsibilities are understood with processes and controls established to ensure compliance.
- Processing of mid-life events linked to Derivatives transactions including unwinds, knock events, expiries, assignments, exercises, interim swap payments and corporate actions
- Responding to Front Office enquires and clearing issues.
- Timely management of exceptions in trade flow
- Supervise ongoing support needs to address changes and gap
- Drive continuous improvement efforts, while reducing risk across all touch-points in the trade path
- Ensure the accurate and timely resolution of all enquiries
- Address ad hoc queries from operations, technology, and the front office
Skills, Experience and Proficiencies
- Good understanding of ISDA 2006 & 2021 Definitions
- Front to back knowledge of Derivative Trade Flow, including products, trade capture, confirmation, settlements, compression, valuations and transaction reporting.
- Equivalent experience at an Investment Bank, working in a Derivative Middle / Back Office capacity.
- Highly disciplined, a self-starter, and the ability to complete assignments independently
- Attention to detail with superior written, verbal, and problem-solving skills
