Job Description
Our client is a leading provider of advanced technology across the UK defence sector.
You will provide aviation safety engineering support to Typhoon project team, working within a small team of safety engineers the candidate will be responsible for leading the team’s technical output and ensuring that accurate safety products are delivered to the customer. Tasking will be provided and supervised by the Project Manager and the Technical Lead for Typhoon where necessary, though a large amount of self-motivation will be necessary.
The primary output for this Senior Safety Engineer role will be the provision of expertise to deliver defined artefacts in support of Typhoon Project Team. Artefact production will cover the whole range of Safety Management System (SMS) documentation for Aviation platforms, and the applicant should possess analytical skills to examine evidence to support a safety argument. Ability in the use of safety engineering tools and techniques together with excellent interpersonal skills are essential for the delivery of output.
- The Senior Safety Engineer will ensure that work tasks are delivered to the specified time, cost, required quality standards and any other specifications given.
- You will provide solutions to problems that are defensible, auditable and which will meet customers’ expectations and needs.
- The Senior Safety Engineer will provide support to time estimates and programme of work inputs to bids.
- You will ensure that all work performed is consistent with company Compliance Procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
- You must have safety engineering experience for aircraft (rotary or fixed wing).
- The Senior Safety Engineer must have knowledge and experience in working with the MAA or Civil Aviation Authority regulatory organisations.
- Ideally be ex RAF/NAVY/ARMY (Aircraft) / Civil Airline or Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S), however any defence experience is desirable.
- Hold or be eligible to obtain government security clearance.
