The role

The Heilbronn Institute for Mathematical Research is looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our events administration team. The work of the team is key to the success of the Institute which is a national centre supporting research across a range of areas of mathematics in the UK.

The Institute is run as a partnership between the UK Government Communications Headquarters and the UK academic mathematics community, with its main premises in Bristol, based in the School of Mathematics.

What will you be doing?

You will be the first point of contact for staff and visitors, providing an efficient front desk service and working closely with colleagues in a team environment to deliver an excellent service. You will take a leading role in the organisation of the Institute’s seminars, small workshops and events, as well as supporting the team in the organisation of international conferences, the distinguished lecture series, internal and external conferences and large workshops.

You should apply if

  • You have good administration skills with demonstrable experience of working in a busy office environment.
  • You have strong customer care orientation and commitment to service quality.
  • You are able to deal with and prioritise a range of ongoing tasks at the same time.
  • You have proven experience of completing tasks to high levels of accuracy, with attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
  • Experience of organising successful events, seminars or high-level meetings is desirable.
