HOURS: Full time, Monday to Friday 8:30am - 4:00pm
SALARY: £85 - £110 per day dependent on experience and qualifications

We are recruiting for a PRU Teaching Assistant for an inclusive, welcoming & supportive College Pupil Referral Unit, PRU, in Tameside.
About the role:
- PRU Teaching Assistant for a College PRU in the Tameside area.
- Full time hours 8:30am-4:00pm each day
- Starting ASAP.
- Pay up to £110/day.
- Will go permanent for the right person.
- All pupils have EHCPs for Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs, SEMH, as well as associated needs such as Autism, ADHD and SpLD.
- As their new PRU Teaching Assistant you will need to be resilient and be able to persevere through difficult situations.
- You will also need to build relationships with pupils quickly while being able to set clear boundaries using a consistent, fair, honest & engaging approach.
- Ideally you will have some previous experience as one of the following Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, SEMH Teaching Assistant, PRU Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker, Pastoral Support Worker, Psychology graduate, Counsellor, Sports Coach or Residential Support Worker.
About the College:
- College Pupil Referral Unit, PRU, in Tameside.
- Broad curriculum based on childrens' needs and interests including vocational learning.
- Lessons take place in small groups of no more than 8 pupils.
- Supportive management with a supportive and welcoming environment.
- Focus on safety and inclusion for staff and pupils.
- Child centred approach that aims for all pupils to leave the PRU with skills necessary to go on to further education or work.
About the pupils:
- Pupils all have a EHCP for SEMH or associated needs including ADHD or Autism.
- Some pupils require 1:1 pastoral support at times to help manage their emotions & behaviour.
- Some pupils can display verbal or physical challenging behaviours so any PRU Teaching Assistant in this role will need strong de-escalation and behaviour management skills.
