We are currently recruiting a Shift Semi-Skilled Storesperson to join our team on permanent basis.
Location: Canton Train Maintenance Depot, Leckwith Road, CF11 8HP, Cardiff
Salary: £25,328.16/ year inclusive of 20% shift allowance - £13.53/h

- 26 days annual leave + 8 BH, increasing by one day on completion of the first five years of continuous service with the Company, a further one day on completion of the first ten years of continuous service with the Company and a further one day on completion of the first twenty years of continuous service with the Company.
Working hours: 36h/ week (any hours worked above 36h/week will be classed as overtime and paid accordingly)
Work schedule:
- Week one: Monday - Thursday 6:00am - 2:00pm; Friday 6:00am - 12:00pm
- Week two: Monday - Thursday 2:00pm - 10:00pm; Friday 12:00pm - 6:00pm
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The store person is responsible for receiving in and dispatching goods out to external and internal customers, checking and updating stock levels, as well as maintaining a clean and safe stores environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
- NVQ L1 Warehousing & Storage (Desirable)
- Fork Truck License (Desirable)
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Take delivery of goods inwards, using the forklift trucks / overhead cranes where required, ensuring safe loading and unloading of materials.
- Ensure goods are checked off in an accurate and timely manner and check for damages and quantity.
- GRN’ing of all deliveries received on our MRP system.
- Put materials away in stores after deliveries in accordance with stock control systems in place.
- Issue materials, including internal kitting of material for production as per production plan.
- Deliver materials/equipment/items to shopfloor/work areas as required
- Stock control of consumable minimum stock levels, raising replenishment order requisitions to procurement accordingly.
- Ensure send away items are appropriately packaged/banded and necessary paperwork ready for collection
- Assist with stock checks and undertake discrepancy investigations when required in conjunction with Procurement.
- Provide counter service for personnel calling in at stores to collect items.
- General housekeeping within stores areas.
- Participate as and when required in one-to-one meetings and undertake, as appropriate, courses/training/other developmental activities, relevant to the role.
- Keep up to date with developments within the Company and other sector-wide practices, that influence the day-to-day activities within the role, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and any other relevant internal/external factors (e.g. Company policies and procedures, Quality Management standards, Health and Safety).
- Ensure, in the course of employment, complete confidentiality is maintained in respect of the Company, its dealings, transactions and all other information relating to clients/customers/staff etc.
SKILLS and EXPERIENCE
- Stores or warehouse experience involving driving forklift.
- Knowledge of good practice relating to Health and Safety.
- Stock control experience.
- Computer literate and has experience of email, stock control software.
- Methodical and organized.
- Able to work effectively as part of team and with others across the Company.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Able to work flexibly. This includes working a reasonable amount of overtime hours as and when required which may include, on occasion, weekend working.
