Buro Happold is recruiting for a Specialist BIM Technician (Contract Role) to join our Specialist Consulting team. This role would preferably be based in London however it can also be based from our Bath, Leeds, Manchester or Edinburgh offices.
This role is suited to a candidate from a production and delivery background looking for an opportunity to pursue a career within a vibrant multi-disciplinary practice.
We proudly support hybrid working however, candidates will be invited into our office 2-3 days a week.
Engineer Innovation
The Specialist Consulting BIM technician will work within all areas of digital delivery and BIM for all Specialist Consulting teams, working with team members to drive implementation of best practice as well as our BIM policy. The objective is to make working with BIM workflows efficient and Business as Usual for all applicable projects. The SC BIM technician will work with the SC BIM Lead and Group BIM Leads to challenge our highly engaged community of Specialist Consultants and Engineers to work together to develop increasingly streamlined and automated approaches to their project delivery.
The role reports directly to the UK Regional BIM Network SC BIM Lead and will be responsible for the delivery and support of projects.

Your responsibilities will be varied and diverse, however your primary focus areas will include the following…
- Producing detailed, coordinated Revit models to a high level of detail.
- Working closely with the Specialist Consulting team to deliver high quality BIM projects to agreed deadlines.
- Create and manage design model maintenance.
- Troubleshoot problems.
- Providing guidance and advice to team members on the planning and management of advanced Revit techniques.
- BIM auditor for projects. Quality control of BIM models and associated drawings, schedules etc.
- Reviewing project BIM BEP’s and EIR’s and ensuring requirements implemented in design process.
- Liaising with members of the design team to assist with resolving coordination issues.
- Support project standards and coordination with consultants.
- Involvement in a wide variety of project types including medium to large scale projects.
- Engaging with the wider Buro Happold BIM community to foster inter-office relationships and improvement of global processes.
Your Skills and Experience:

You will be a passionate BIM technician with experience in consulting our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills…
- Experience working in production and delivery.
- Experience working with Autodesk Revit software.
- Demonstrable working knowledge of BIM processes and standards such as ISO 19650, PAS1192-2.
- Team player with leadership capabilities.
- Experience in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Experience in managing BIM Projects desirable but not essential.
- Experience on working on large scale projects desirable but not essential.
- Experience on working on BIM360/ACC desirable but not essential.
- Experience of CDE environments.
- Sound communication skills, willingness to work as part of a team, not being afraid to discuss your ideas and way of thinking.
- A proactive approach to your own learning and technical development.
- A keen interest in the implementation of digital design tools and scripting to improve efficiency and workflows.
- Experience and awareness of Navisworks and/or Dynamo would be highly advantageous.
- Ideally HNC, HND, BEng or MSc in a relevant discipline.
