Howdens Joinery are looking for a Security Operations Analyst to join our Infrastructure and Service Delivery Team based at our office in Brackmills Business Park, Northamptonshire with home working.
This role offers a Security Operations Analyst the opportunity to develop, implement and monitor our technical security controls. As a Security Operations Analyst, you will be working in a technically challenging environment on a variety of organisational business change projects and will possess the gravitas and credibility to inspire excellent results
What will I be doing as a Security Operations Analyst?
- Monitoring our Security information and event management (SIEM) system and investigating any issues
- High-level management and incident response for our externally-managed detection and response (MDR) service
- Manage our primary email gateway solution and secondary security controls.
- Assist project teams with security reviews and advice.
- Manage and monitor our vulnerability management reporting solution.
- Assist with Data Loss Prevention technologies in use within the business
- Advise and manage cloud-based security controls including MFA and conditional access
- Preparation of reporting requirements to management including KPIs
- Creating, review and maintain information security policies and runbooks.
Key skills and experience required:
- Able to demonstrate a strong technical working knowledge of two or more areas of IT operations such as system administration, networking, endpoints, firewalls, cloud services, web applications, email and databases- ideally including Office365, Azure, Teams and internet security.
- Maintain a solid understanding of the current security threat landscape along with the tools and techniques used to protect a multi-national retail business against them
- Will be able to demonstrate a high level of ability in security problem analysis and resolution
- Experience in implementing and managing security technologies (such as AV/IPS/Vulnerability Management/SIEM/WAF/DLP)
- Capable of working under pressure.
- Good experience of industry-standard security principles and their appropriate real-world application
- Comfortable in helping customers to meet technical security requirements and actively promoting best practice
- Will hold academic qualifications, or industry standard certification, or have the equivalent experience in the field of information/cyber security
- Experience in assisting with policy/process definition
- Create and update documentation relating to security operations processes and procedures
This role is based in Northampton with currently 2-3 days in the office per week and will require some occasional travel.
