Position: Shopping Centre Security Patrolling Officer
Location: London, Wembley
Reporting To: Security Shift Manager
Hourly Rate: £11.99
Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off with plenty of overtime
Contracted Hours: 42hrs per week
Job Requirements:
- SIA CCTV Licence considered an advantage
- SIA Door Supervisor licence
- Experience operating fire alarm system in a busy environment
- Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills
- Good knowledge of local area
- Excellent levels of customer service at all times
- Demonstrated ability to think and act quickly in emergencies or under pressure
- To have a smart appearance befitting the company
- Good organisational skills, flexibility and reliability
- First Aid trained is a bonus.
Job Role:
- You are to follow all reasonable instructions given by those supervising or managing your activities and/or area of work and any other instruction that applies to you.
- Arrive for duty in good time, ready to be at your post from your shift start time
- Register in for duty using the bio metric fingerprint reader
- You must maintain a neat appearance and dress in accordance with the ABM Facility Services dress code (no earrings or hoodies).
- You must carry out daily patrols in terms of the specified procedure.
- Take breaks as detailed in the breaks roster and not be in the mess room unless the line manager has given prior permission.
- Complete Health & Safety checks in terms of the Safety Check List.
- Report any infringement of the Code of Conduct to your line manager at the earliest opportunity.
- Seek permission from your line manager before leaving the mall.
- Not to enter Management Suite unless fully dressed in standard issued uniform.
- Comply with standard hours of work or those specifically applicable to yourself and not be absent without permission (Absence Reporting Procedure).
- Report any injury or accident at work to their line manager or the duty manager.
- Always be courteous towards clients, tenants, customers and other employees.
- Follow correct lock-up procedures and make necessary reports to the Control Room.
- Mall patrols covering all external areas
- To target known hot spots on static patrols where required
- To log all patrols FOH and BOH
- Assist Housekeeping to Check toilets every half hour (quarter past and quarter to every hour)
- No photos with shops front are allowed and No filming without Management permission
- No bicycles or skateboards are allowed to be ridden through mall
- S/O are not to stay inside shops more than 2 minutes unless they are required to do so
- S/O are to check and alert cleaners for spillages, full bins or other situations that require their attention
- The use of mobile phones whilst Public facing is not permitted. Phone calls should be taken at break times
- To provide a visible deterrent, reassuring the public.
- This specifically includes the prevention of accidents, injuries, crime, fire and damage by any cause to the Landlords & Tenants property. The Security Officer must follow the procedures detailed in this document at all times whilst at the same time paying strict regard to their own personal safety.
- Comply with the Data Protection Act.

- To ensure criminal offenders are apprehended and handed over to the local authorities if deemed safe to do so
- If necessary, attend court to give evidence
- To maintain your personal notebook in accordance with PACE Act 1984
- To undertake all duties in a safe and secure manner, taking into account personal safety and the safety of your colleagues and the public
- To provide an efficient, helpful and smart image at all times.
- To alert the Management of any person thought to be suspicious in any way.
- Be vigilant for suspicious packages or parcels, and know the Client’s Procedures for evacuation if required.
- Check the mall and building for potential fire hazards.
- At no time should security take responsibility for keys of tenant premises.
- Morning and evening take over patrols (check fire exits and perimeter)
- Refrain from idle chat and deal with all incidents in a professional manner.
- Record all incidents in the daily log as well as in your personal pocket book.
- Complete Incident Reports for all reportable incidents to the required standard
- Consumption of alcohol on company premises is not allowed nor is reporting to work or being at work whilst under the influence of alcohol or other substances. This would be considered Gross Misconduct.
- Follow correct procedures of reporting for duty.
- No discrimination of any form is allowed
- No falsification of any records kept
- No accepting any gifts or gratuities as per the Business Conduct Policy.
- Using mobile phones while on duty is not permitted (for emergencies ask permission from line manager)
- Maintain absolute confidentiality regarding company information, records of data collected and used in the course of your job functions.
- Access to the control room will only be granted by the following:
- Prior agreement with the Security Manager or Operations Manager.
- Control Room Staff must possess a relevant SIA CCTV license
- If eating in public areas during breaks all uniform logos should be covered.
- Interchanges with tenants are to be kept to a minimum, and always conducted in a professional manner.
- Officers are not to congregate on mall.
- Officers are to be alert and attentive at all times.
