Job Description


Our General Security Manager - South is looking to recruit a highly skilled Regional Security Manager to manage all aspects of our depot(s) Security across the following depots; Bournemouth, Basingstoke, Bristol, Feltham, Guildford, Heathrow, Newbury, Portsmouth, Southampton, Slough & Reading, so you must be able to get to all these locations.

Effective security plays a vital role within the DPDgroup UK Operation, given the nature of our business and our commitment to providing outstanding customer service. Security within the business also extends to the requirement to ensure that our employees and property are safeguarded at all times.

The Company therefore has three main security objectives:

  • To protect company personnel whilst on duty
  • To protect customer goods whilst in our care
  • To protect company property and equipment

Local management is responsible for the security of their depots/sites on a daily basis with the Security Department providing direct overall support.

The Security Department must operate in a customer-facing manner with responsibility for the security of our depots (our internal customers) and also our external customers’ goods whilst in transit.

Every attempt must be made to work in a proactive manner to prevent loss and improve and sustain effective security. However, it is understood that some reactive work will be required from time to time and the necessity to provide weekend coverage to include potential periods of support outside normal working hours.

Key Tasks/Areas of Responsibility

  • Support Loss Prevention Officers within their area of responsibility

Support LPO’s with specific problems and devise innovative working practices to counter the loss threat. Provide cover in the absence of the LPO. Complete training objectives as directed

  • Company Security Policy/Strategy

Implementation and review of company security policy and strategy as directed by the Head of Security.

  • Security Related Matters

Provide advice and support to depots/hubs on all security-related matters including:

  • Physical Security
  • Operational security
  • Administrative Security

4. Security Projects

Lead and deliver on security-related projects that support the department's Top Ten and improve the security on sites to fulfil the company’s main security objectives.

  • Security Reviews, Risk Assessments & TAPA audits

Conduct security reviews, and risk assessments and support the quality department with security audits, and follow-up reviews to ensure compliance by depots to current policy and legal requirements.

To complete annual TAPA security audits for depots within the network

6. Investigations

Conduct and assist with thorough investigations when tasked by your reporting manager or when a security incident occurs submitting a full report and making recommendations where necessary to prevent any recurrence and improve security - providing where necessary files of evidence for external agencies. To work independently or as part of a team during protracted incidents.

7. Loss Reduction

To analyse and interrogate the company systems to identify trends and patterns of loss and reduce loss-paid claims through intervention and Loss Investigation. Ensure best practice and compliance is adhered to. Review and act on all security escalations within your area of responsibility in a timely manner. Actively progress intelligence and work proactively with the Company Fraud Investigator and Team.

External Customers

  • Customer Visits

Liaise with and visit external customers on security related issues when necessary or tasked by your reporting manager, working closely with them (particularly major accounts) in a proactive manner to ensure effective security is maintained.

  • Security Advice

Offer advice to our external customers if invited to do so on their own security measures to improve the standards of security and the safety of their goods whilst in transit.

Other areas

  • Liaise with external agencies e.g. the police, when required to do so to assist our overall security and investigations.
  • When at depots/sites if you identify any bad practices by employees or damaged equipment that may result in injury or breaches of the company’s Occupational Health and Safety procedures then immediately raise the matter with local management and inform the General Manager of security .
  • Carry out any reasonable management or company instruction when advised to do so by the General Manager of Security


Qualifications


To be considered for this role you must have extensive and demonstrable experience as a Security Manager with a large scale, multi-layered organisation. You will also be able to evidence successfully leading and inspiring your teams to deliver exceptional results.

  • You will be a confident communicator/presenter with the skills to lead and manage teams.
  • A person capable of decisive and effective decision-making, in a time pressured environment and taking ownership of the department
  • A high level of negotiation skills, excellent attention to detail with the ability to prioritise workload
  • A flexible and proactive approach to work
  • Someone that really enjoys resolving problems and demonstrates high levels of resilience and self-motivation
  • Demonstrate the core values of DPD DNA – Passion, Respect, Honesty, Flexibility, Hard Work and Accountability
  • Full clean driving licence with a flexible approach towards travel is essential
