Summary
With the pace of Lidl Great Britain’s growth continuing, our press office is getting busier by the day. This role provides a brilliant opportunity for someone to combine their passion for retail with a strong desire to work (or already have experience) in communications and corporate affairs. As a real people person with strong communication and writing skills, you will thrive in this highly collaborative and multi-skilled role, which will provide the opportunity to work with many teams and individuals across the business. Working directly alongside both the Corporate Communications Officer and Corporate Communications Manager, and reporting into the Senior Corporate Communications Manager, you will play an integral role within the team, support the day-to-day management of our press office and corporate communications function.
We have moved to a fully flexible model of mobile working for appropriate Head Office and Regional roles, empowering our teams to choose how and where they work best. We feel it is important that, where possible, we offer our colleagues as much flexibility as possible and trust our teams to determine the right environments that work most effectively for them. Please note that your primary place of work will be at our office in Surbiton, with occasional travel across Great Britain required.
What you'll do
- Manage and respond to incoming media enquiries and requests with support from Corporate Communications team
- Investigate and respond to media enquiries, many of which have tight deadlines
- Assist in compiling and developing documents, including press releases, presentations, briefs, letters, and background research
- Support with property communications and wider corporate project planning and execution
- Monitor and compile all media coverage and manage ongoing reporting
- Support with event logistics and coordination
- Help to maintain and update corporate website
- Provide general administrative support, including invoicing, meeting co-ordination and database maintenance
- Maintain contact and relationships with media and key stakeholders
- Build relationship and work collaboratively with internal stakeholders
- Support with agency management and day-to-day liaison
What you'll need
- Previous experience within a public relations/communications role is extremely advantageous
- Exceptional writing skills with proven experience
- Proactive and driven with a dedicated work ethic
- Meticulous eye for detail
- Ability to work to strict deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly over the phone and on email
- Strong experience and working knowledge of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Self-motivated
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- German language skills would be beneficial but not essential
