Hinkley Point B Power Station is currently looking for a day shift Security Guard to join the team onsite in Bridgwater.
Over the last 46 years, Hinkley Point B has generated 311 TWh of low carbon and is now entering a new phase in its life- defueling and decommissioning. This involves the safe removal of all spent fuel from the reactor core, the cooling ponds and stores whilst looking ahead and preparing for deconstruction.

The working hours for this role are 37 per week operating 07:30 – 1600 Monday to Thursday and 0730 – 1230 Friday
We can offer a competitive salary from £ £30,650 - £37,169 with terms and conditions covered by the EDF Nuclear Generation Company Agreement. The starting salary will be dependent on your existing salary, competence, experience, and qualifications.

What you’ll be doing
As first point of contact for visitors’ applicants will need to have a customer focused attitude and experience within a customer facing role.
In addition you will also be responsible for:
- Controlling of personnel and vehicle access to site
- Conducting patrols, and the searching of personnel and vehicles with particular emphasis on the use of modern security techniques.
- Handling confidential document/information with tact and discretion.
- Completing detailed, precise, and meaningful verbal and written reports of specific and routine incidents is also required.
- Supporting the overall team and covering for other team members as required with a focus on maintaining high security standards whilst maintaining a business focus.
Who you are
As a minimum, applicants will be educated to GCSE/national qualification standards (or equivalent). Candidates with these qualifications that include “c” and above grade passes in English and Mathematics will have an advantage.
The successful candidate is required by the company to undertake a role in the emergency scheme. Appropriate payments in accordance with the company agreement will be made
Applicants should possess a full driving licence. It is a requirement that the successful candidate will live within 25 miles, or within 45 minutes travelling time of the station.
Full training is given in all aspects of the job.
Applicants will have to achieve Security Clearance Approval to SC Level prior to taking up their duties.
