Duties

  • Supports multi-disciplined security programs for Command military, civilian, and contract personnel in Personnel Security (PERSEC), Information Security (INFOSEC), Special Security, etc.
  • Serves as Personnel Security Manager; Alternate Information Security Representative; Administers the security education program for the Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence (G-2), JRTC, Fort Polk.
  • Serves as alternate Special Security Representative (SSR), providing Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) advice, and administers the SCI security program and oversight installation SCI Facility (SCIF).
  • Develops plans, policies and procedures for the implementation of security practices in accordance with Department of Defense and Department of the Army regulations and guidance.
  • Prepares reports, clearance actions, access controls, and other plans and documentation pertaining to security programs.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) will be required 10% of the work schedule.
  • Must be able to obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within first two years of employment.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and/or education requirements described below. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. GG-09 Level: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GG/GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes 1) performing administrative security duties such as researching, locating, and applying regulations and guidance to the security programs; 2) Utilizing various security databases to track and verify clearance information.

To substitute education for the required experience for the GG-09 grade level, applicant must have a Master's degree that is closely related to the position or two full years of progressively higher graduate education leading to such degree. (NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with application).

GG-11 Level: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GG/GS-0080-09 grade level in the Federal service, which includes 1) Reviewing and evaluating Personnel Security clearances for accuracy/completeness, 2) Administering one or more of following security program: Information Security, Industrial Security, Physical Security, and Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).

To substitute education for the required experience for the GG-11 grade level, applicant must have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree that is closely related to the position or three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related (NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with application).
