What you will do
As a Logistics Section Manager, you will be responsible for guiding the logistics section to maximise efficiency, quality and cost whilst championing safely with values every day. The logistics department manages the flow of material from receipt to the manufacturing point of use.
What you will be accountable for driving:
Monitor and improve the safety conditions and culture on the shop floor, eliminating any unsafe processes and behaviours and ensure adherence to safety procedures e.g., pre-inspection checks, traffic management, best practices etc.
Organises priorities and sequences jobs; - Schedules and prioritizes constrained resources and adjusts staffing to meet flow and customer requirements.
Implements section value stream improvements and teaches Lean methodology.
Initiates and conducts process improvement dialogs with Team Leads and Team Members.
Heads section status reporting and monitors, audits and improves section Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) through continuous improvement.
Drives BIQ processes and reduction in defects through Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) & Process Improvement Dialogues (PID)
Responsible for training and development of staff, time keeping, estimating personnel needs, assigning work, meeting completion dates, and ensuring consistent application of organizational needs.
Candidates will have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:
Demonstrated Logistics operational management experience in a receiving, warehousing, or production environment.
Previous experience and a thorough knowledge of Lean processes and tools.
Good leadership, demonstrating attributes positively influencing business performance
Excellent communication both written and verbal
Interpersonal, teamwork and collaboration skills.
Must be proficient with all Microsoft Office products at a basic level. Excel – creating spreadsheets, inputting/updating information, PowerPoint – creating presentations.
Able to work with a diverse group of employees and customers, Caterpillar's workforce is as diverse as the customers we serve.
Top Candidates will also have:
SAP experience highly desirable.
Logistics planning experience desirable.

Job Title: Section Manager (Logistics)
Salary: £37,300 - £45,000 depending on experience
Contract: Permanent
