We are looking to recruit a Play Team Assistant at York Hospital.
The Play Assistant will work alongside the Play Team, a fast growing team of play specialists. This high demand team work really hard to achieve the best results for the patients and their carers. They go above and beyond to achieve this liaising with multi-disciplinary teams to get the best outcome for our patients.
The new post is ideal for anyone who loves to be creative and focus on development through play. You will work very closely with children/young adults from birth to 18, encouraging day to day distraction and pre and post procedural play throughout their stay. You will also be able to showcase your capabilities through displays that promote awareness and feedback. You will work very closely with the patients from birth to 18 within ward 17/18, CDC and day unit.
This is an amazing opportunity for anyone looking to progress further within a role, as it provides the option of completing a Healthcare Play Specialist Foundation Degree via an apprenticeship scheme in the future.
Our service operates Monday-Friday ( excluding bank holidays), 7am - 8pm. You will be expected to provide support and care for patients, families and colleagues within varying settings around the hospital.
