Scotland’s Best Hotel (21-50 rooms) 2022 and 2023

The Machrie Hotel, Isle of Islay, Scotland

Seasonal Jobs - Food and Beveridge, Housekeeping, Reception, Chef de Partie (full time and part time)

We are located on the beautiful Scottish island of Islay on the west coast of Scotland. This position would suit someone who loves the country, wildlife, golf and the outdoors.

We have 47 bedrooms (different styles), 4 self-contained lodges and a split-level suite with 2 bedrooms. We also have 5 dog friendly rooms.

There is so much to explore on the Isle of Islay off the west coast of Scotland and the hotel has already been recognised as Scottish Hotel of the Year 2020 and our historic golf links is ranked in the top 20 courses in Scotland.

If golf is your thing, this really is the place to be with our 18 hole Machrie Links, 6 hole par 3 Wee Course, driving range and golf simulator available to you, you can enjoy working and earning whilst also indulging in your passion for golf!

We offer staff accommodation and the Islay Ferry has a direct Citylink bus connection to and from Glasgow or there are two 30 min daily flights from Glasgow Airport – it couldn’t be easier.

Overlooking the idyllic 7 miles of silver sands at Laggan Bay, Restaurant 18 and our Stag lounge benefit from panoramic views across the links and stunning ocean sun sets. They truly are jewels in the crown here at The Machrie.

Our guests come from both the island and far and wide, attracted by the beauty and challenge of our links course, the wonderful wildlife, unforgettable whisky indulgencies (after all Islay does have 10 whisky distilleries!) or indeed just to relax, take in the fresh air and great views and delight in some fantastic food.

All our positions benefit from quality staff accommodation located either on-site or local to the hotel. We provide local transport in addition to the Island bus service. When you’re not working there is much to enjoy such as walking, hiking, sea kayaking, cycling, bird watching, investigating the history if Islay, wildlife sea tours, whisky distillery visits or indeed making the most of the hotel golf facilities and the hotel’s 7 miles of sandy beach.

Vacancies include:

  • Chef de Partie
  • Housekeeping Assistants
  • Waiting Staff
  • Bar Staff
  • Reception

Our seasonal team members come and join us between March until the end of October

Looking after our team members as well as our guests is equally important to us. We reward hard work and dedication with a starting salary of £10.30 increasing to £10.90 from May 2023.

We know island life is not for everyone, but if you don’t need the bright lights to be entertained, and instead can equally enjoy a simpler life appreciating nature’s glorious gifts then why not get in apply today?
