Downs View Nurseries Ltd are seeking seasonal horticulture nursery workers to join their small team, working across two sites in Sidlesham, West Sussex.
Contract - fixed term for four months, due to start end of March 2023.
Positions may become permanent subject to new client orders from July 2023.
Production covers annual bedding, herbaceous and perennial crops grown under glass for supply to Local Authorities and on-line outlets.
As a seasonal worker you would be working within a small team and will be required to undertake activities such as, but not limited to: -
Propagation
Assisting with seed raised and or cutting raised propagation.
Maintaining records, lifting stock prior to planting.
Potting
Working with semi-automated transplanter, potting machine, or handling equipment.
Crop care
Setting down, spacing, trimming, training, crop hygiene and maintaining records.
Irrigation
Manual hose and lance or via semi-automated overhead sprinkler system.
Dispatch
Constructing or dismantling Danish trollies.
Lifting stock, cleaning, labelling and or QC.
Site maintenance
Weed control, general site cleanliness
Previous horticultural knowledge desirable but not essential, as training will be given. Jobs can by physical, both indoors and outdoors in wide ranging temperatures.
You will be required to work on both nursery sites as required; these sites are within a 0.5-mile radius. Transport between sites provided.
Hourly rate £10.85 Overtime rate of £16.28 Paid monthly on the last Friday of the month.
Standard 39 hour working week. Overtime, week end and bank holiday work throughout busy dispatch periods will be necessary.
Working week…
Monday to Thursday 07:30 – 16:15
Friday 07:30 – 15:15
Saturday – Sunday 07:30 – 16:15 When required as part of crop care or dispatch.
