ABOUT THE ROLE Scrum Master is a critical role in delivering our challenging digital transformation agenda.

The purpose of this role is to lead team(s) of digital engineers to deliver change across our Digital and Customer systems, creating a digital delivery view, resourced to maximise pace and quality of execution supporting ROI on investments to drive conversion, sales and margin benefits. This will be working with Product Owners and Engineering Managers. This role includes identifying opportunities, creating estimates to support business cases and working with stakeholders across multiple teams, UX and Agile development & IT teams. Team size will vary depending on projects and delivery requirements and comprised of Permanent, contract and 3rd Party resources. This is a permanent role.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


The vision is to empower delivery and engineering teams to deliver increasingly more value, sooner with less work.

The purpose is that by using agile principles, values and mindset, we work hard to create an environment of autonomy, mastery and purpose where teams can unlock their high performing potential to solve customers’ problems.

The main focus of the role is to work within the Digital Engineering Team for Technology & Digital Function as Scrum Master where you will continually improve the ways of working and environment in order that the team/s can perform at their best to deliver on time, one budget and quality to the customer.

You should have excellent knowledge of the scrum framework, with all its artifacts and techniques, but be able to work across multiple disciplines such as waterfall and Kanban as required to get the work delivered.
You’ll also need the ability to coordinate people and projects (occasionally facilitating 3rd parties) with your mind set on agile delivery. If you’re a strong communicator, a capable leader and your’re invested in Agile frameworks, we’d like to meet you.


Main responsibilities are:

  • Manage Digital Delivery through Scrum methodologies.
  • Ensure co-ordination of sprints, retrospective meetings and daily stand-ups
  • Coach team members in Agile frameworks as needed
  • Facilitate internal communication and effective collaboration including dependencies and critical path actions and bottlenecks.
  • Be a point of contact for external delivery communications (e.g. from customers or stakeholders)
  • Ensure deliverables are up to quality standards
  • Guide development teams to higher scrum maturity
  • Help build a productive environment where team members ‘own’ the delivery and enjoy working on it

Also, we want you to be responsible for motivating the delivery within the engineering squads within Scrum to achieve a high level of performance and quality in line with sprints and engineering delivery standards. You will also be responsible for software delivery using agile methods in a fast-paced environment that may cross multiple business divisions. As well as the technical aspects of the role you will also be expected assist in team development while holding broader accountable for scrum master commitments, responsibility for ensuring team members track their time using the appropriate in-house system. You will be part of the wider IT Digital Delivery function where you will drive initiatives in line with our purpose to continually improve agility across the Technology department and the wider enterprise.



CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Define and drive the end to end delivery of sprints and the definition of done for solutions for Digital Engineering and Technology.
  • Focus on achieving your delivery goals.
  • Ensure impediments are anticipated, addressed, owned & resolved by the team or yourself or escalation as needed, to ensure dependencies and critical path are managed.
  • Ensure the sprint goals are delivered and the Definition of Done & Definition of Ready are successfully met across sprints.
  • Create the metrics needed to be able to improve the ways of working including the sprint planning estimation, the capacity of the team

Must Have

  • Demonstrable experience leading Scrum team.
  • Certified Scrum Master or equivalent Kanban accreditation e.g. Advanced Certified Scrum Master (A-CSM) or Professional Scrum Master Level 2 (PSM2). Significant experience of being a Scrum Master / Agile Team Lead.
  • Interpersonal & relationship building skills, able to work at all levels of the organisation, across functions, geographies and cultures
  • Demonstrable experience of skilled and compelling delivery leadership using various techniques in the context of a team or other groups within an organisation.
  • Demonstrable experience leading across 1-2 engineering teams
  • Desirable
  • Demonstrable experience of other agile & engineering practises such as Lean Start-up, Lean UX, XP, DevOps
  • Other professional qualifications
  • Demonstrable experience of leading agile transformation engagements in non-software environments E.g. finance, marketing etc.
