What we do in Legal:
The Legal department is involved in all aspects of the Tripadvisor business (including subsidiaries, such as Viator and TheFork). The Legal team's work involves contract drafting and negotiation, intellectual property, litigation threat assessment and management, internet law, privacy law, consumer marketing law, international legal issues, mergers and acquisitions, employment law, regulatory matters, privacy and compliance.
What you'll do:
Tripadvisor is recruiting a Trainee Solicitor, UK for its global legal team. This position will involve work in three areas: Employment, Compliance, and Litigation Threat Assessment and Management. This position will report directly to the Head of Global Employment Law, but will also work closely with the Chief Compliance Officer and Assistant General Counsel. More specifically:
- Working with the Head of Global Employment Law, provide advice and counsel on a wide variety of (global) employment law issues, such as hiring, terminations, non-competes, medical issues and accommodations, independent contractor/employee classifications, compensation and benefits. Work will also include global projects and policies involving employment law issues, and working on cross-functional project teams.
- Working on the Compliance Team, provide support and counsel on a broad range of general compliance matters, including data protection, privacy and payments, such as monitoring and reporting on regulatory developments and compliance issues with respect to emerging technologies and working with the functional teams on executing the compliance plan.
- Working with the Assistant General Counsel on contentious and regulatory matters, including litigation threat assessment and response, litigation management (including managing external counsel), interactions with regulators and product counseling.
- Partner closely with other lawyers in the Legal Department in a collaborative manner.
What are we looking for?
- Candidates must currently be working as an Apprentice Solicitor and planning to take the SQE2 exams in the Spring of 2023. Please do not apply if you are already a qualified Solicitor
- Have a law degree from an accredited law school and excellent academic credentials
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Attention to detail and commitment to excellence
- Strong work ethic and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills
- Self-starter and able to work well independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational and interpersonal skills
