Overview:
As a Scrum Master, you will be required to facilitate all aspects of the Scrum framework, including sprint planning sessions, backlog grooming sessions, daily scrums, sprint reviews and sprint retrospectives. You will also coach and influence at all levels to drive increased agility, velocity, predictably, innovation and quality. Your role will be instrumental in initiating a traditional agile and scrum methodology, cutting edge agile methods and tools to enable teams to rapidly deliver functionality that drives customer satisfaction.Responsibilities:
Are you an experienced Scrum Master looking for a new challenge and to step up in your career? As a Scrum Master, you will be working in a client facing role across a range of sectors focused on defining and implementing projects for large or complex projects within the insurance domain.
As a Scrum Master, you will be required to facilitate all aspects of the Scrum framework, including sprint planning sessions, backlog grooming sessions, daily scrums, sprint reviews and sprint retrospectives. You will also coach and influence at all levels to drive increased agility, velocity, predictably, innovation and quality. Your role will be instrumental in initiating a traditional agile and scrum methodology, cutting edge agile methods and tools to enable teams to rapidly deliver functionality that drives customer satisfaction.
- Accountable for maximizing teams ability to deliver Sprint goals and contribute to teams OKRs
- Responsible for ensuring team level ceremonies like Daily Huddles, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review etc. are conducted focusing on value return.
- Accountable for driving continuous improvements for the team resulting in increased efficiency or enabling greater ROI
- Accountable to both the team as a whole and each individual team member, performing as a servant leader
- Accountable for identifying, tracking, removing and escalating impediments and blockers at team level to maintain both pace and flow of value
- Accountable for managing and resolving intra-team dependencies by working with other Scrum Masters within the platform and external teams
- Maintains the Scrum team capacity plan, Scrum board, sprint backlog, velocity charts and burn down charts.
- Identifies and helps remove impediments to the success of the Sprint.
- Identifies and communicates potential risks to the completion of the Sprints, including resources, costs, and systems.
- Recommends appropriate solutions.
- Directs appropriate and timely communication with all department managers and customers throughout the life of the sprints.
- Assists in the negotiations with the appropriate department managers for assignment of skilled resources that are not members of the Scrum team.
- Protects the Scrum framework from improper modification by the Scrum team.
- Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables.
- Define project tasks and resource requirements.
- Proactively manage project risks and issues providing appropriate issues escalation to the necessary levels.
- Define metrics to correlate elapsed time with scope of work completion.
- Lead the team to be accountable for the commitments they make
- Foster transparency and visibility, need to ensure that a team’s progress, obstacles and successes are highly visible to all stakeholders, including the team itself.
- Ensure and foster a collaborative culture within the team (instead of the traditional command and control activities).
- Drive the team to improve their engineering practices and tools so that each increment of functionality is potentially shippable.
- Remove impediments/blockers to project.
- Shield the team from external interference.
- Develops and maintains expertise in the application and use of systems, tools, and processes within the department's scope.
- Certified Scrum Master with a degree in Computing or Engineering.
- Knowledge of Project Management processes and methodologies.
- Experience in Scrum Master roles.
- Lean Six Sigma qualification advantageous.
- Certified Scrum Master
- Proven track record successfully delivering at least one software solution from inception to deployment using the Agile Scrum methodology
- Experience as an organizational change agent driving continuous process improvement
- Direct work experience in Scrum Master capacity
- Proven experience as a Scrum Master

- A background in consultancy would be an advantage

- Supporting Product owners with team backlog and prioritisation management
- Working with the Platform Leads to assist in the development of capability
- Coaching team members, Platform leaders and stakeholders in Lean-Agile practices and mindsets
- Supporting Product owners with team backlog and priority management
- Collaborating and consulting with other team leaders and scrum masters to manage resourcing and dependencies
- Measuring the scrum team’s performance and velocity and working with the team on continuous improvement
- Helping teams and Product Owners to define and meet the “Definition of Ready” and “Definition of Done”
- Partnering with the Product Owner and/or Product Managers in backlog refinement sessions with the delivery teams, empowering them to define “how” work will be completed
- Removing impediments to work in progress
- Facilitating Scrum Events where required
- Enabling close cooperation across all roles and functions within the Scrum Teams by building a team culture of psychological safety, ownership, continuous improvement and high standards
- Spotting warning signs and ensuring the teams identify and address risks to delivery
- Coaching Product Owners and/or Product Managers in techniques to order product backlog items
- Defining and using appropriate metrics to forecast delivery
- Actively participating in the delivery community and relevant Communities of Practice, sharing and re-applying skills and knowledge and bringing in best practice
