With a track record of innovation and development, Abbott Diabetes Care designs, develops and manufactures leading-edge glucose monitoring systems for use in both home and professional healthcare settings. We have a Global Centre of Excellence for Medical Devices based in Witney, Oxfordshire. The site has been instrumental in the research, development and manufacture of the FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System as well as exciting developments in the Libre family including FreeStyle Libre 2, FreeStyle Libre 3 and the Libre Sense system. We are passionate about doing work that improves the quality of people’s lives.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Scientist to join our R&D team to provide product R&D support activities through scientific experimentation and technology exploration. This role will be at the heart of the UK R&D team and your input and delivery of results will be instrumental in the achievement of key product and process innovations in both the UK and US. In this role you will support innovation development, and the development of technology portfolios for future business projects. You should be excited about working in a fast-paced environment within a hard-working and welcoming team. You will be keen to develop your exposure of following protocols to accomplish goals, analysing data, evaluating results and forming conclusions, and using your technical writing skills to produce reports and impactful presentations of your results.
To be successful, you will be degree qualified in a physical science discipline, and whilst you would ideally bring some industry-based experience of working in a scientific environment, consideration will also be given to candidates without this. Ideally, the successful candidate will also have knowledge of and skills in one of Process engineering or similar technical discipline, or Sterility assurance and / or sterile packaging. The ideal candidate will be a proactive individual who takes initiative and is able to work within a team. You will need to have good communication and time management skills, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment. There will be opportunity to collaborate with quality, operations, regulatory, clinical and engineering functions in both the UK and the US.
