Job description

50 human clinical trials in early phases! That is the scope of our Molecular & Cellular Sciences team in BioMarker Development / Translational Medicine.

As a Scientist in Biomarker Development, you will work in close collaboration with Molecular and Cellular Sciences study leaders and clinical teams to implement internal and external biomarker activities, and provide interpretation of results to enable mechanistic, safety and efficacy understanding. You will be developing and validating innovative biomarker solutions, implementing new methodologies, delivering high quality data and playing a pivotal role in phase human clinical trials.

What you will be doing
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Develop and validate fit-for-purpose biomarker assays with a special focus on ligand binding assays
  • Contribute to the implementation of internal and external (outsourced) biomarker activities in clinical studies
  • Generate and interpret data to enable proof of mechanism, dose selection & proof of biology across early clinical programs and present results at internal meetings
  • Implement and apply innovative biomarker solutions
  • Develop knowledge in additional biomarker modalities and/or technologies
  • Conduct activities in compliance with Novartis policies, Values and Behaviour and relevant guidelines
  • Network internally to expand scientific and technical knowledge.

Minimum requirements

  • BS/MS degree in Biology, Immunology or equivalent
  • Professional experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment, developing bioanalytical assays for soluable biomarkers
  • Experience working with ligand binding assays
  • Good understanding of regulatory requirements relevant to Biomarker Development (e.g. GCP, ICH)
  • Demonstrable experience with any of the following: SoftMax Pro WATSON LIMS, SMARTBook,
