Based in Cumbernauld, you will be responsible for contributing to the development of our next generation of gas analysers. You will be involved in all phases of new product development, from concept to prototype evaluation, being able to present the data collected clearly and concisely. The role will also include supporting the certification programmes of new and existing products both in house and at external test houses and certification bodies.

The Technology Team is part of the Engineering Department, which undertakes all aspects of research, development and design of products to produce a new range of advanced gas sensing solutions. This involves integrating mechanical, electronic and optical systems into robust reliable products that meet customer specifications. Main remit is the internal development and research of innovative methodologies and solutions.

• Technical analysis and support for new commercial product specifications
• Optical alignment and configuration of gas sensors
• Document development work in a detailed and well structured manner
• Perform gas testing of the analysers and prototypes in full respect of the safety procedures
• Continuous assessment of current production and prototype gas sensor performance, actively providing feedback to the design teams to improve the product range
• Contribute to the assessment of new technologies and their applicability to development goals
• Data analysis, including comparative assessment where alternative measurement techniques are available
• Contribute to the review of relevant scientific publications, competitor products and new technologies

• Masters level degree in Physics, Chemistry or a relevant Engineering field
• Some practical experience of working in a laboratory environment (within university or industry)
• Good understanding of the laws of optics
• Knowledge or experience of relevant gas analysis methodologies

• Experience working with optics and semiconductor lasers
• Experience with gas measurement techniques
• Experience with Matlab, LabVIEW, Python highly desirable
