BUSINESS AREA
Working as part of the Biologics Engineering team, you will be responsible for providing critical cell and biochemical assay expertise to deliver multiple biologics drug discovery and technology development projects using state of the art technologies. Working with disease-area experts, you will develop disease-relevant cell assays, screen antibody repertoires, and identify and validate molecular targets. This is a lab-based role involving independent design, execution and interpretation of scientific experiments, and effective communication of findings and recommendations as part of a multi-disciplinary project team. You will also contribute to the identification and development of ground breaking technologies that benefit biologics drug discovery and have a consistent track record of solving scientific challenges.
What you’ll do
Develop biochemical and cell based 96 or 384 well binding and functional assays
Identify and develop new screening and automation technologies and processes
Maintain a well-developed understanding of approaches to biologics drug discovery and apply a broader functional knowledge to support the department
Identify solutions to assay, technology or drug discovery project problems
Provide input to peer reviewed publications, patents and participate at international conferences
Ensures own work, and work of peers, follows Good Laboratory Practice, Safety, Health and Environment standards and all other relevant internal AstraZeneca standards and external regulations
Essential for the role
PhD or BSc/MSc degree with experience.
Experience and technical knowledge of assay development, screening and use of automation, with a dedication to quality and scientific rigor
Ability to address challenges and contribute and improve assay technologies and processes
Desirable for the role
New technology evaluation and implementation
Primary and disease relevant functional cell assay development experience
Hands on experience in high content image acquisition and analysis. Training can be provided by Team
Background in drug discovery and development in the pharmaceutical industry
Knowledge of biologics drug discovery and in vitro pharmacology
