We are currently recruiting for a Scientific Assistant to join the Process Research & Development team (PRD).


PRD is responsible for the development of world-class viral vector manufacturing processes for Oxford Biomedica’s proprietary products and partnered programmes. PRD performs a crucial technical role in Oxford Biomedica’s mission to deliver life-changing gene therapies to patients.


Your responsibilities in this role would be:


  • Performing stock checks of consumables, media, solutions, buffers used by Scientists to ensure work activities are maintained.
  • To receive deliveries and unpack stock into laboratories.
  • Cleaning and maintaining the laboratory equipment and facilities.
  • Raising engineering requests and chaperoning engineers whilst in the Laboratories.
  • Raising & preparing asset documentation for laboratory equipment
  • Raising work requests and assisting Laboratory Management as required
  • To assist in maintaining the health and safety compliance as applicable.
  • Preparing media and aliquot solutions / buffers as required by the laboratories.
  • Preparation of tubing and small-scale bioreactors for processing.
  • Assisting in cell seeding and cell count activities.

We are looking for:


  • Educated to a minimum of GCSE or equivalent qualification level or able to demonstrate required skills gained within another workplace.
  • A genuine interest and drive to work in science.
  • Problem solving skills to help identify way forward when issues arise
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Able to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Highly organised and motivated with excellent attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of MS Office, Word, Excel & Outlook.
