Job description

We are looking for a Schools Manager to lead our high performing Schools Service team in Scotland.


Reporting to the Strategic Service Manager – Schools, the Schools Manager for Scotland leads a team of 8 Schools Coordinators, who work remotely to deliver our work in schools. Our Schools Coordinators are the single point of contact for all schools in their area and they work remotely and lead a team of volunteers. You will be responsible leading and supporting this team to deliver our work in schools, including our Speak Out. Stay Safe. programme. You will set and monitor targets, supporting the team to achieve our aims for schools, children, and families.


You will be responsible for ensuring consistent service delivery across Scotland and will implement and maintain quality assurance standards. Our Schools Managers act as the first point of contact for managing safeguarding concerns in their region.


You will provide the Scotland team with strategic support to deliver their plans locally and will need strong knowledge of the education system in Scotland. You will seek opportunities to work externally with key partners and stakeholders to maximise our work in schools across Scotland.


Our Schools Service sits within Local Services, and you will form important relationships with colleagues across Scotland, including Local Campaigns and the Regional Assistant Director; as well as national services, such as Childline.


You will join a team of 9 other Schools Managers, who work together with the Strategic Service Manager – Schools, Reach Coordinator and Volunteer Development Coordinator to provide strategic direction and develop our work in schools. Schools Managers support one another by taking leads on different areas of work such as volunteer recruitment and safeguarding.

You will have relevant experience of delivering programmes in an educational or safeguarding setting. You will also have followed safeguarding procedures, have excellent relationship management skills, enjoy working with people, have experience in all elements of volunteer management, have strong planning and organisational skills and have experience of meeting set targets.
