Job description
Key information
Bournemouth University’s vision is worldwide recognition as a leading university for inspiring learning, advancing knowledge and enriching society through the fusion of education, research and practice. Our highly skilled and creative workforce is comprised of individuals drawn from a broad cross section of the globe, who reflect a variety of backgrounds, talents, perspectives and experiences that help to build our global learning community.
Working in the Schools Liaison & Partnerships Team, these roles will support the delivery of the Schools Liaison programme. You will contribute to recruiting students to BU and raise awareness of opportunities and the benefits of Higher Education (HE) to all prospective students, including those currently under-represented in HE. You will work predominantly with young people under 19 years of age, schoolteachers and education professionals, parents and carers, other key influencers, and occasionally with adult learners.
You will support the organisation and delivery of events held at target schools, colleges and academies, and the BU campus. This will include regularly delivering presentations to audience sizes of up to 300, facilitating interactive workshops and leading on-campus visits. These are exciting and challenging roles from which you will develop highly relevant and desirable skills, such as public speaking and project and event management.
A full driving license or equivalent mobility is required along with a willingness to travel as you may be required to undertake a significant amount of travel to various locations within the UK in a timely manner. This may include long distance travel which may be hard to reach using public transport.
These positions are available on a fixed-term basis from 1 August 2023 until 31 July 2024, subject to the successful completion of pre-employment checks.
These positions do not meet the eligibility requirements for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Route within the UK Visa and Immigration service’s Points Based System. Therefore, BU will not be able to sponsor individuals who require permission to work to carry out this position.
THESE POSITIONS ARE OPEN TO BOURNEMOUTH UNIVERSITY STUDENTS CURRENTLY STUDYING, AND THOSE WHO HAVE GRADUATED FROM BOURNEMOUTH UNIVERSITY WITHIN THE LAST 6 MONTHS ONLY.
We are committed to providing a safe environment for all students and staff. This position is required to undertake regulated activity and therefore is subject to a satisfactory DBS Disclosure. Further information on BU’s safeguarding policies on safeguarding vulnerable groups can be found online.
If you need further information about these roles, please contact Louise Postill at [email protected].
BU values and is committed to an inclusive working environment. We seek a diverse community through attracting, developing and retaining staff from different backgrounds to contribute to inspirational learning, advancing knowledge and enriching society. To support and enable our staff to achieve a balance between work and their personal lives, we will also consider proposals for flexible working or job share arrangements.
