Job Description – Schools HR Administrator (part time)
Job Title: Schools HR Administrator
Reports to: Schools HR Manager
Details: Part time flexible role,20-25 hours per week over 5 days (times to be agreed with successful candidate). Term time only plus 2 weeks, i.e. 40 weeks per year. Home working option.
Pay: £22-24k Full Time Equivalent based on experience/skillset
Overview
The HR Administrator will be a key part of the HR service to schools, providing a professional, efficient and accessible HR administration service to schools, senior leaders and multi- academy trusts. You’ll be the first point of call for information and advice on contracts and will ensure all clients receive accurate contractual information in a timely fashion. You will need to demonstrate outstanding written communication skills, together with excellent attention to detail for accurate administration. You will be able to interpret basic policy, offer excellent customer service and be organised.
This is a administrative role, within a friendly and supportive team and where full flexibility is available to make the role fit with your work/life balance.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft and issue contracts of employment, statements of particulars, salary statements and letters for teaching and support staff employed by clients.
- Work with payroll to ensure all new starters and changes to contract are processed correctly and within agreed timeframe.
- Use the in house HR systems to manage workload and maintain service standards
- Work with the HR and payroll teams to keep abreast of School Teachers and Local Government and Associated Employers Pay and Conditions of Service and legislative changes to employment law in the education service.
- Complete HR administration including pay calculations and redundancy estimates as and when required.
- Provide advice and support on contractual arrangements via telephone and email, as appropriate.
- Support the HR team with TUPE administration as required.
- Attend team meetings and undertake projects as required.
- Identify opportunities for expansion of the HR service.
- Work with the HR Manager, Payroll Manager and the Managing Director to improve the effectiveness and profitability of the HR service.
- Undertake any other relevant duties as required.
Person specification
- Outstanding written communication skills (Essential)
- Excellent IT skills with Microsoft Office and able to demonstrate a consistently high level of accuracy and attention to detail (Essential)
- Ability to prioritise and work unsupervised and under own initiative (Essential)
- Strong organisational skills (Essential)
- Able to communicate effectively with customers (Essential)
- Up to date working knowledge of HR and employment law as applicable to contracts (Essential)
- Ability to multi-task, with a professional and flexible approach to work (Essential)
- Confidentiality and sensitivity (Essential)
- Team player with a ‘can do’ attitude (Essential)
- Minimum Grade C (or equivalent) GCSE English and Maths
- CIPD qualified to level 3 (desirable)
- Experience of working within school environments, with an understanding of the Burgundy and Green books and teacher and support staff pay scales. (Desirable)
