The School Travel Team is seeking to recruit a Project Support Officer to join our friendly team, who are passionate about walking, cycling and road safety. We are looking for a reliable team player, with enthusiasm and creativity, who can provide excellent administrative and project support to help us deliver the Borough’s exciting School Travel and ambitious School Streets programmes.
Purpose of role:
- provide administrative and project support for implementation and evaluation of various school travel projects.
- use excellent communication skills, verbal and written, to raise awareness of the programmes, engage with and provide information to schools.
- support delivery of workshops, events and campaigns to achieve project outcomes and outputs.
The Project Support Officer will work directly and indirectly with schools, to promote and encourage safe, active and healthy travel for the school journey. They must be able to work as part of a team and also independently when required, using their own initiative and managing their workload efficiently to meet the team’s targets.
They will have experience of:
- supporting the management and delivery of projects,
- managing activities with multiple deadlines and various stakeholders,
- organising and delivering workshops and/or training events,
- engaging people of different ages and backgrounds to deliver project outcomes,
- supporting the collection and monitoring of data,
- using all Microsoft Office applications, in particular Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Publisher.
Transport Planning at Ealing Council:

The Transport Planning Service develops the council’s transport strategy and works with schools, businesses and communities. The Service delivers projects to ensure that people can travel in a safe and convenient way, encouraging them to walk, cycle and take public transport. Our work supports the council’s aim to become carbon neutral, as a borough and an organisation, by 2030.
The council’s Transport Strategy aims to build a positive legacy to enhance the environment and improve public health, by focussing on ‘active travel’ (walking and cycling) plus public transport. We will create ‘Healthy Streets’ that seek to reduce pollution and increase physical activity rates.

This role is deemed customer facing and as such you must have a command of spoken English which is sufficient to enable you to effectively perform the role. This requirement relates to Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016.
The position is for a fixed period until 31st March 2026. External applicants will be offered a fixed-term contract and existing Ealing council employees will be offered the opportunity of a secondment.
