At Ark Kings Academy we take safeguarding very seriously. All adults who regularly work on our site are required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to prevent unsuitable people from working with students. Ark is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people in our academies. To meet this responsibility, we follow a rigorous selection process. This process is outlined here, but can be provided in more detail if requested. All successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
Ofsted February 2022:
- Pupils in the primary phase enjoy coming to school. They are confident, curious and eager to learn. They feel safe and are well cared for. Teachers and leaders expect all pupils to achieve well and to behave well. Pupils meet these expectations. Pupils and adults get on well and they work together in a culture of respect and kindness.
- From the beginning of nursery, pupils in the primary phase are taught how to look after themselves and to understand their feelings and those of other people. They support one another and are happy to embrace new challenges. They are responsible and respectful.
- Leadership in the early years is good, resulting in children receiving a good quality of education.
Ofsted December 2022:
- Safeguarding is effective.
- Leaders have been resolute in making sure that the safety of pupils is paramount.
- Leaders have developed and unified expert teams of staff, including pastoral, welfare and behaviour, to work alongside the safeguarding team. This has strengthened leaders’ ability to identify concerns very rapidly. It has also ensured that help is quickly at hand for pupils and their families.
- Pupils say that they know who they can talk to if they have a problem.
- Leaders have radically overhauled the systems used by the school to improve pupils’ behaviour. This has been very well-received by pupils.
- You have established much higher expectations of pupils’ learning behaviours.
About the role:
We are looking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic School Nurse. You will provide students and staff with first aid support, complete and record all care plans and draw up individual health care plans for students, in liaison with parents and outside agencies.
Ideally you will have some experience of working with and supporting young people with special needs in a learning environment. This is a great opportunity to be part of a true community school and to support pupils in reaching their potential.

About our school:
We are an all-through school admitting pupils from Nursery - Year 11. Our mission is to create a school in which every child thrives, academically and socially.
We offer an exciting and aspirational all-through curriculum which is carefully planned to ensure that our students develop and grow their knowledge throughout their whole school career. This is supported by a wide range of enrichment and extra-curricular opportunities – extending our curriculum well beyond the classroom.
Our school values are: ‘Wisdom, Resilience, Kindness’ – and they permeate everything we do in school with our pupils, our parents, our staff, and the wider community. We recognise our role in addressing inequality by ensuring that all pupils, regardless of circumstance have the opportunity to attain an excellent education.
How to apply:
Please visit www.arkkingsacademy.org/vacancies and submit your application. This should include an explanation of your motivation to apply and examples/evidence of how you meet aspects of the job description.
We advise you to submit your application as soon as possible as we reserve the right to close the vacancy early if a high volume of applications are received.
