Student Cribs are hiring for multiple roles across our Lettings and Management Teams at our Central London Headquarters, and at our Newcastle and Manchester regional offices. Flexible start and end dates available for the right candidates. Past Assistant Portfolio Managers have received full-time job offers with Student Cribs while others have used their competitive salary to support travels before University.
We are looking for motivated, reliable and personable candidates who are keen to take on real responsibility from day 1 and quickly build professional skills and experience.
You will work closely with senior members of the Student Cribs team, receiving mentorship and training so that you quickly build experience in a fast-paced growing business.
The program is designed for outgoing, confident and enthusiastic individuals who will be required to work well within a team but also have the ability to adapt, be flexible and support other departments during peak periods.
Whilst the role will be primarily based in London, you’ll have the opportunity to visit other great cities within the UK; this will include attending open days, viewings and house visits – expenses covered of course!
We will assign you to the department that best matches your skillset, interests and preferences. Each role is hands-on and commercially focused, with real responsibility from day 1. While your exact responsibilities will vary depending on the team you join, they may include:
Lettings and Management
The Lettings & Management teams are responsible for letting our student properties, contracting tenants and ensuring current tenants have a great experience living with us.
- Managing important parts of the sales process, such as calling leads and following up on viewings- there are often prizes for top-performers here!
- Daily calendar management for cities you are working on
- Travelling to our cities to conduct viewings, inspections and support on marketing activities
- Taking inbound calls
- Managing maintenance requests and progress, including managing contractors
- Reviewing and generating contracts
- Supporting incoming tenants with queries on contracts and payments
- Managing our LiveChat system, chatting in real time to website users and helping solve their queries
- Using internal software / systems – a great opportunity to get hands on with business software that will set you up for all future office work
- Meeting with senior management to report and feedback on your markets and share your insight and ideas for improvement
Acquisition and Development
The Acquisition and Development team is responsible for the purchase and refurbishment of Student Cribs growing portfolio of over 1,000 properties across the UK.
- Researching and implementing innovative new products
- Finding and negotiating with new suppliers
- Visiting properties to assist with the furnishing process
- Market research / identifying new investment opportunities
- Assistance with other investment team tasks
Skills required
We don’t ask for any particular experience to join our program, but there are some skills we would like to see demonstrated within your application:
- Great team working skills (could be shown through school sports/clubs)
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Confident, with the ability to work well under pressure (could be demonstrated through presentations and deadlines)
- Diverse in your abilities and able to adapt to new roles (demonstrated through working with others/taking on new challenges)
- Proactive approach to work with good attention to detail (demonstrated through the taking up of new courses or challenges to improve overall performance)
- Strong eye for detail
Skills Gained
During your time at Student Cribs, you will have the ability to gain new skills that will help you succeed, be it at University or in the next steps of your career. We will provide you with training and working closely with senior members of your team, you will receive tailored mentorship to help you succeed. You will have the opportunity to work in an office environment with a small team, meaning your role will be extremely hands on and you will have real responsibility. You will learn the inner workings of the UK’s leading student property company – invaluable experience whether you want to pursue a career in real estate or any other fast paced, highly successful company.
You will also work closely with other departments within the company, with opportunities to learn about their roles and to become involved in what they do. The core skills you will acquire while working at Student Cribs will become the basis of your future professional careers.
Details and Benefits
- Hours: 9am-6pm Monday - Thursday, 9am-5pm Friday
- £22,000 pro rata
- A free breakfast will be provided in the office, daily
- Travel opportunities with expenses paid
- Location: Central London, with several roles also available in our Newcastle and Manchester offices
- Start Date: Opportunities to join from June to September 2023, with contracts expected to run until January 2024
- Opportunities for future employment: some of our Assistant Portfolio Managers have gone on to become full-time Student Cribs team members, while others have secured other great roles using their experience at Student Cribs!
