The Role
School Crossing Patrol Officer – BR5
- Monday to Friday - 2 ¼ hours per day between 8:15am – 9:15am & 3pm - 4:15pm (term time only)
- Salary - £10.90 per hour or £4763.30 per annum. Although this role is only working term times, the salary will be split across 12 months. This means you don’t have to worry about not being paid during the school holidays!

The Role

The role of a School Crossing Patrol officer is to ensure the safety of children and families waiting to cross the road or crossing. This takes place at a specific point around school hours. You will make the road safer for all users, making sure cars are stopped at appropriate times.
- You will ensure the safety of families crossing the road at an assigned point on their journey to and from school.
- You will operate hazard warning signs as appropriate.
- You will control and direct traffic as appropriate.
- You will maintain control over families who are awaiting instructions to cross.
- You will use all uniform and equipment provided for personal safety and for the safety of families and other road users. This is important when stopping traffic on the Highway.
- You will frequently assess the risks that come with the crossing site to detect any problems.
- You will report problems and defects to manger.
