Local Government in Cumbria has changed. The current six district councils and Cumbria County Council have now been replaced by two new unitary authorities - Westmorland and Furness Council and Cumberland Council.

About this opportunity
School Admissions fulfils a countywide role and its main responsibilities are in relation to school admissions and parental information and advice.
Approximately 12000 pupils either transfer to the next phase of their education or commence their primary education and in addition the team respond daily to 'casual' requests for a transfer of school.
The team also provide information and advice to parents as well as liasing with other departments such as School Transport
You will be part of an established friendly team contributing specific technical and administrative support to enable the Admissions and Appeals team to operate effectively and ensure that our statutory responsibilities are met you must have experience of working in a busy office enviroment as part of a team and have the ability to maintain confidentiality prioritise and work accurately under pressure.
You will be able to use a range of ICT packages and maintain electronic filing systems and be able to deal with complex and sensitive enquires.
