Job description
Siemens is creating its first UK based Rail Industry Hub on the outskirts of Goole in the East Riding of Yorkshire.
With an initial contract to assemble nearly 50 trains to service the Piccadilly line on the London Underground we are starting to recruit nearly 300 skilled technical and support colleagues at in our Manufacturing Facility.
In the near future follow-on work is expected to bring this number of trains into the hundreds, along with an expansion on the site into maintenance and overhaul activities displaying a long-term commitment to the area and growth in employment and career opportunities.
To be successful in this role you will maintain oversight of the final assembly process at our Goole manufacturing facility, with particular focus on the materials supply chain. You will ensure that the demand generated from our manufacturing process is appropriately planned and resourced with the correct materials. You will highlight and escalate risks in a timely manner where appropriate, shining light on any material shortages which will impact on production.
You will have effective communication skills to enable you to liaise with a variety of stakeholders regularly. You will have experience of analysing data from a variety of sources, collating key information and providing briefs to management on a regular basis. You will be focused on detail, and able to spot trends quickly. You will be comfortable working with a variety of computer programmes, and use your proficiency to ensure that the right parts are available as required by the production line, playing a pivotal role in our manufacturing facility.

This is your role. What part will you play?
To be successful in this role you should be able to demonstrate:
- Significant experience in the use of an industry leading ERP system (SAP highly preferable)
- Recent experience of material planning using a variety of industry standard I.T. systems
- An ability to analyse data and communicate effectively with the wider team
It would also be helpful to have the following:
- Excellent numerical and analytical ability, including an eye for detail
- Experience of working in a manufacturing / production environment
- Experience of prioritising tasks effectively in a time critical production environment
- Experience of production order problem solving and supply chain resolution
- Experience in the rail industry or a similar safety first environment
