Your role at a glance

Are you looking for a graduate role that is technically challenging? Do you want a future that allows you to develop commercial acumen alongside your technical skills?

We are looking for graduates who can answer “yes” to the above for our 2023 Risk and Compliance Rotational Graduate Programme, due to start in September 2023.

The graduate programme is designed to give you the fundamental experience and skill set required to excel in your future.

What you'll be doing

The key thing to know is that your role will be broad and diverse, with lots of opportunity to develop. You will either join LGIM, Group, LGRI, LGC or Retail to gain an understanding of the different roles that are pivotal to the organisation’s success. To find out more about these business areas, please read the ‘About the business areas’ section below.

As part of the Risk & Compliance Grade Programme, you will be involved with the following:

  • Supporting Non-Financial Risk (NFR) and IT and Technology risk requirements across the business and relevant teams, providing fungible resource to move between the different Risk and NFR sub disciplines to align to changing priorities or resource pinch points
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement to risk processes and ways of working across the different risk disciplines
  • Assisting with drafting of reports and presentations as required
  • Supporting the design and development of tools and processes to help us identify, analyse and report on risks across the business
  • Helping create and maintain policies for identifying i) which risks and ii) how much exposure we want in order for the business to better manage risk.
  • Assisting in providing oversight and constructive challenge to our front-line functions
  • Contributing to ‘horizon scanning’ exercises for emerging future risks, e.g., climate, cyber
  • Supporting the design and development of tools and processes to help us identify, analyse and report on risks across the business.

Over the course of the 2 years, you will be given the chance to experience different rotations*, develop your professional network and expand on both your business acumen and qualitative skills. You will be able to complete a professional accreditation dependant on the business area you join. We hope that by the end of the programme you will have built a clearer picture of where your interests and experience can take you within Legal & General and the wider industry.

  • Candidates joining LGIM’s graduate programme will only rotate around the various teams within LGIM Risk & Compliance function exclusively, and not the teams listed above.

What we're looking for

First and foremost, we are looking for people with an inquisitive mind and a desire to learn. We’re not expecting prior industry experience, but we’ll want to see that you have the tools to develop quickly. These include:
  • 2.1 Degree in any subject – we are open to all subject backgrounds
  • Analytical mind-set, with a high level of numeracy
  • Great communication skills, written and verbal
  • Flexible and a team-player
  • High levels of energy, dynamism and commitment
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise effectively
