Financial Crime Risk (FCR) aligns current activities within Global Risk and helps to build these into a more integrated framework to conduct Customer Due Diligence which enables HSBC to manage FCR more effectively. The successful candidate will be joining this team as a SME on matters related to Global Sanctions with an additional focus on Customer Sanctions. The Sanctions Advisory Manager will also have some responsibilities that include supporting on regulatory filings and contractual wording/negotiations.

We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Sanctions Advisory Manager
In this role, you will:
- Advise the business on a broad range of sanctions issues including, client sanctions exposure (through HSBC’s CDD process), permissibility of transactions, HSBC’s sanctions policy and industry-specific issues.
- Support the wider advisory team with SME knowledge on Sanctions and advisory matters including client due diligence and transaction referrals and helping to track these cases.
- Take on legal – type responsibilities by supporting the Senior Sanctions Manager on drafting contractual clauses, deal wordings, regulatory filings, and periodic reporting requirements.
- Be a subject matter expert on sanctions risk management and compliance with sanctions regimes imposed by the UK, European Union (EU), United Nations (UN), HKMA and USA, and HSBC Group sanctions policy.
- Work and liaise with wider teams such as, Financial Crime Investigations on live sanctions investigations, and RFAs for UK/ Europe.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Good understanding of United Kingdom (UK)/European Union (EU)/United Nations (UN)/US sanctions and export controls is essential.
- Experience from a Sanctions and/or Legal background with additional expertise in reviewing contractual and legal documents.
- Proven advisory skills, together with the ability to communicate and articulate thorough advice with sound reasoning.
- Strong ability to analyse any regulatory implications both to Compliance colleagues and to business heads.
- Experience dealing with regulatory reporting and high-risk exposures via clients.
The base location for this role is London with an expectancy of being the office 2 – 3 days per week.
