Main Purpose of Role
- Support Laboratory Manager deliver consistently high standards of analytical performance to ensure the laboratory meets ISO 17025 requirements and that company quality, health and safety protocols are adhered to while achieving commercial objectives.
- Monitor and maintain laboratory running operations and outputs including but not limited to; Liaising with client to ensure prompt reciept and registration of samples, monitor completion of jobs and dispose of complete samples, vessel sampling, goods in management.
- Maintain and develop positive relationships with clients to provide analytical solutions and continuity of service. Where appropriate, finding solutions for client enquiries and process issues.
Key Accountabilities
- Maintain organised and auditable systems of work to permit traceability and ensure compliance with UKAS 17025 accreditation.
- Receipt and register samples within the SGS LIMS system and monitor completion of workflow and disposal of samples thereafter, liaising with clients as and when required.
- Diesel and water vessel sampling at client premises.
- Collection and drop off samples in the Aberdeen area.
- Preparation of sampling kits for offshore clients.
- Identify and initiate improvements to current operations thus ensuring profitability.
- Operate as a client focal point for sample registration by providing direct and effective liaison with clients to ensure continuity of service and agreed contractual obligations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of administration requirements to support laboratory operations
How to be a successful candidate
- Must be computer literate in use of MS Packages.
- Effective interpersonal, teamworking, delegation and time management skills.
- Highly motivated and organised with an ability to work efficiently.
- Full, current, valid UK driving licence.
Desirable
- An appreciation of hydrocarbon process system operation and production chemistry.
Experience

- Experience of sampling water and/or fuels
- Working within a UKAS accredited laboratory environment
- Administration experience
- Forklift truck driver’s licence
- Dangerous Goods certificate
