Sales Team Leader (up to £31,000)

About the role

As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for delivering budgeted Classified/direct revenues across the Food Portfolio whilst developing the team and products to drive significant revenue growth.

As Team Leader, you will;

  • Develop, communicate, and implement annual commercial business plans for the above
  • Analyse and identify sector and market trends, new products and commercial revenue streams that will add value to IM Direct
  • Linked to the above, create a deep understanding, analysis and continuous monitoring of competitor sets, their ad revenue, client base and initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with Markets, e-commerce, Imagine and Trading to ensure client patches, product and market developments are clearly understood
  • Play a key and active role in managing IM Direct
  • Ensure that the team maintain a minimum standard in call rates, new business wins, series bookings, digital conversions, and daily proposals
  • Ensure that all bookings, proposals and contact reports are entered on the appropriate system as soon as practicable and that the team obtain confirmation of booking from principals at time of booking
  • Act as a business ambassador on behalf of Immediate Media

Team Leader accountabilities will include;

  • Taking primary responsibility for all print and digital direct advertising revenue across the Food Portfolio (from a defined client list) as well as help drive digital and cross media sales
  • Being accountable to the Head of IM Direct for achieving budgets as set across the group
  • Helping to write and implement the ad sales strategy for the Food portfolio in conjunction with the Head of IM Direct
  • Identifying a key client hit list for group to ensure high level representation is achieved as well as be an ambassador for the titles to agencies and clients
  • Negotiating the best possible rate for each piece of business, using discretion within the parameters set out by Head of IM Direct to maximize volumes and yields
  • Keeping regular contact with current, previous and potential advertisers
  • Maintaining a sales territory from which you take sole responsibility, that contributes to the overall targets of the portfolio group of which you manage
  • Responsibility for clearly communicating the magazine and digital strategy to your team, and successfully managing the implementation of this strategy by all team members to ensure budgets are hit
  • Developing a comprehensive knowledge of the Food category: Including the market, our competitors, market trends and clients
  • Entertaining clients and agencies (with hospitality budget guidelines) where this is advantageous to business
  • Preparing and presenting appropriate sales progress reports to the Head of IM Direct and Trading Directors and, where appropriate, the MD Advertising
  • Keeping issue management of magazines up to date e.g. Options, bookings, flat plans etc.

Requirements

  • Significant sales experience within mainstream consumer publishing, including Classified advertising
  • A proven track record of project or people management
  • Excellent sales, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Excellent knowledge and ability to apply all the latest applicable research and data within sales process
  • Exceptional communication, administration, and business skills
  • Ability to coach and motivate
