As a customer-oriented Sales Assistant, you will play a key role in providing excellent customer service, promoting and selling our wide range of health food and nutrition products, and contributing to the success of the store. Knowledge about nutrition and the effects of supplements and natural substances on the body is highly valued for this position. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in health and wellness, with a solid understanding of basic nutrition principles and the benefits of various supplements and vitamins. Being able to provide accurate information and personalized recommendations to customers regarding the nutritional value of our products, their potential effects on the body, and any relevant dietary considerations. An informed knowledge of the latest research, trends, and regulations in the health food industry will enable you to offer valuable insights to customers and help them make informed choices to support their well-being.
Responsibilities:
Customer Service: Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner, providing exceptional customer service at all times. Offer product recommendations, answer inquiries, and provide information about our health food products.
Sales and Promotion: Actively promote and sell our wide range of health food products, striving to meet or exceed sales targets. Demonstrate product knowledge and explain the benefits of various items to customers. Upsell and cross-sell relevant products to enhance customer experience.
Product Display and Merchandising: Ensure products are attractively displayed and well-stocked on shelves and in the shop window. Maintain proper signage and pricing for all products. Assist with stock replenishment and inventory management as needed.
Cash Handling: Operate the cash register accurately, process payments, and provide receipts to customers. Handle cash and card transactions and maintain a balanced till at all times. Adhere to all cash handling procedures and policies.
Product Knowledge: Stay updated on the features, ingredients, and health benefits of the health products offered in the store. Continuously educate yourself on new products and industry trends to provide accurate information to customers.
Cleanliness and Organization:Ensure the store is clean, tidy, well-organized and inviting at all times. Clean shelves, displays, and sales counters regularly. Assist with general housekeeping duties to maintain a pleasant shopping environment.
Adherence to Policies: Follow all store policies and procedures, including health and safety guidelines, to ensure a safe and secure working environment for both staff and customers.
Qualifications and Skills:
Previous retail or customer service experience is preferred.
Knowledge and interest in health foods, supplements, and natural products.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong customer service orientation with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
Basic maths skills and the ability to handle cash transactions accurately.
Well-organized with attention to detail.
Flexibility to work during weekdays and weekends.
While a University degree in nutrition and similar studies is not mandatory, it is preferred for this position. A formal education in nutrition will provide a deeper understanding of the science behind dietary choices, nutrient interactions, and the role of supplements in promoting overall health. A candidate with a degree in nutrition or a related field may possess a more comprehensive knowledge base, enabling them to provide in-depth guidance to customers seeking specialized dietary advice. However, candidates with relevant work experience, a strong passion for natural health foods and their benefits, and a willingness to continuously educate themselves in the field of nutrition will also be considered.
The position is part-time, with a schedule of up to three days per week. We understand the importance of work-life balance and offer flexibility in scheduling to accommodate both personal and professional commitments.
