An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Stock Controller for a contract based out of Hemel Hempstead. This role will appeal to an individual who loves working in a friendly fast-paced team. This team is part of our Home Delivery Network, we store and deliver carpets on behalf of some well-known brands. The working hours are Monday – Friday 08:00 – 16:00 Salary £27,000

The Role
- Reporting to the Distribution Centre Manager.
- Identifying trends adversely affecting the control of stock and its impact on our Customer's focus values.
- To maintain the Warehouse Management System to achieve high levels of service, and an efficient stock flow through the warehouse.
- Ensure physical accuracy of stock held at the DC is maintained at all times.
- Monitor quality control checks within all areas of the Distribution Centre to ensure stock integrity at all times.
- Assist the stock movement between Distribution Centres and ensure stock is available.
- Develop, control and manage the department and associated stock management functions on site.
- Preparing, conducting and resolving variance investigations of Stock Counts / Uplifts, including; validating count data submitted for verification to the mainframe and providing / liaising with External audit departments.
- Dealing directly with the customer to substantiate and resolve stockholding, documentation and supplier payment issues.
- Advise management of problems and shutdowns which may affect operational performance.
- Identify possible problems and seek solutions that are both cost-effective and timely.
- Compiling and circulating weekly and period reports detailing results and audits conducted.
- Ensuring that Key Performance Indicators are met and where possible exceeded, whilst supporting, implementing and introducing innovative ideas and solutions.
- Reverse flow management to minimize product damage and stock loss.
- Provide quality technical support to the operation.
- Monitoring of site supplies and reordering when required.
- Control of uniform ordering for Southern depots.
- Meeting and exceeding operational KPI's.
- Support the DC Manager in Site Facilities and Health & Safety.
The Person
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, with a strong sense of attention to detail
- Should have previous experience in a distribution warehouse environment.
- An excellent communicator at all levels, having the ability to work with site management to agree actions in achieving the plan.
- Excellent analytical skills, being able to transform a forecast into a plan.
- Should have a good knowledge of warehouse management systems.
- Be PC literate with high standard of Word, Excel and Access.
- Experience of implementing and managing processes, in line with continuous improvement.
- Have the ability to work on their own initiative, prioritise their own workload, and adhere to specified deadlines.
- Will have excellent team building, leadership and motivational skills.
- Willing to support other departments when required.
