About The Role

As a General Sales Assistant within our stores, you’ll be delivering an efficient and reliable service to our customers who are at the heart of everything we do. You will be a customer advisor achieving our sales whilst living our Matalan Values; maintaining a high performing, energetic and adaptable energy – all whilst making sure that our customer’s experience in-store is at the forefront of our work.

You’ll have great exposure of a fast-paced retail sales environment; working across the shop floor, till area and stock room. Job Overview:
We are currently looking for a General Sales Assistant (Perm) as a keyholder to join our team at Matalan located in Poole. The role will involve providing excellent customer service, ensuring the smooth running of the store, and actively contributing to the achievement of sales targets, also supporting the team on opening and closing the store, The ideal candidate will have a passion for fashion, strong communication skills, and the ability to work well within a team.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Opening and Closing Store
• Greet and assist customers in a friendly and helpful manner, ensuring their needs are met.
• Provide expert advice on products, promotions, and services to enhance the customer shopping experience.
• Actively maintain a high product knowledge level to assist customers with inquiries and provide recommendations.
• Process transactions accurately and efficiently using the company's POS system.
• Assist with stock replenishment, ensuring shelves and displays are tidy and fully stocked at all times.
• Operate fitting rooms, ensuring customers receive exceptional service and maintaining cleanliness and order.
• Maintain a strong understanding of sales targets and actively contribute to their achievement.
• Collaborate with team members to achieve excellent store performance and maintain a positive working environment.
• Participate in store events and promotions to create excitement and drive sales.
• Follow company policies and procedures to maintain store security and minimize loss.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for both customers and staff.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Demonstrated passion for the retail industry, with a focus on fashion and apparel.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with customers.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work well within a team and contribute to the overall success of the store.
• Previous retail experience is desirable but not essential.
• Basic knowledge of POS systems and cash handling is preferred.
• Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and public holidays as required.
