Job Description
As a Sales Assistant in our aquatic store, you will play a crucial role in assisting customers, maintaining the store's appearance, promoting our products and services and maintaining vital life support systems. Your friendly demeanor, strong product knowledge, and passion for aquatic life will contribute to creating a positive and engaging environment for our customers.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and provide friendly, personalized assistance in their aquarium needs.
- Offer expert advice on aquatic life, products, and equipment to help customers make informed purchasing decisions.
- Maintain a clean and organized store environment, including tanks, displays, and merchandise.
- Perform regular water testing, tank maintenance, and care for the aquatic life in the store.
- Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently using our point-of-sale system.
- Assist with receiving and stocking inventory, ensuring products are well-presented and adequately labelled.
- Participate in ongoing training and stay up-to-date with industry trends, new products, and advancements.
Requirements
- Passion for aquatic life, with knowledge of various fish species, plants, and their care requirements.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage with customers effectively.
- Strong customer service orientation, with the ability to provide guidance and support.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take initiative independently.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain a clean and organized store environment.
- Basic computer skills for operating the point-of-sale system.
- Physical ability to lift and carry aquarium supplies and assist with tank maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience (Non Essential)
- Previous experience in a retail or customer service role, ideally within the aquatic industry.
- Knowledge of water chemistry and aquarium filtration systems.
- Familiarity with different brands of aquatic equipment and products.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 37.5 per week
Salary: £10.48-£12.00 per hour
