Corporate Summer Intern (Paid)

Our ideal candidate for this opportunity will be enrolled in or have graduated from a legal studies program or have gained exposure to corporate law through working experience. They will also be an attentive administrator who is highly organized, exercises practical problem-solving judgement, and enjoys working in a team environment. Finally, our ideal candidate will share our passion for corporate law and will be driven to one-day be developed into a corporate law clerk.
Your day-to-day in this role:
- Reviewing corporate minute books;
- Identifying deficiencies in corporate minute books;
- Searching and comparing corporate records to the government records;
- Describing discrepancies and deficiencies concisely and accurately; and
- Other clerking or clerical support tasks as required.
What we would like to see from you:
- No prior experience working in a law firm is required – however, candidates with prior legal, clerical and/or administrative experience will be prioritized;
- Enrollment in or completion of a legal assistant or law clerk program, or equivalent working experience, is required;
- An excellent attention to detail is required to identify and record deficiencies;
- Superior organization and task prioritization skills are required to organize minute books;
- Strong English writing and reading comprehension skills are required;
- The ability to reason independently and make judgements on client files is required;
- The ability to work closely with others in a team environment is required;
- A familiarity with the MS Office Suite, document management systems and legal accounting software (i.e., PC Law or Soluno) would be an asset; and
- The ability and availability to commute to the office 5 days a week is required.
This opportunity is a full-time contract with a negotiable end date between September 1st to 15th. This opportunity offers a wage of $20 per hour.
