The job
We see this role as a real mix between business development, sales and account management.
Yes, we definitely need someone who can pick up the phone on a regular basis, because you’re going to need to introduce yourself to people who don’t know you yet. But we’re not looking for an old-school, in-your-face, commission mad sales person who can persuade the clouds down from the sky. Charm isn’t needed, but authenticity is – we believe that being true to yourself means you build the strongest relationships.
You’ll be a real people person, wanting to know everything about our prospects and customers, to get right under their skin, to give them superb customer service and to keep in regular contact. You will care an awful lot about simply doing what you’ve said you’ll do, when you said you’ll do it.
Professionalism goes without saying, but a sense of humour and determination to do what’s right will be needed. Setting up and improving sales systems and processes will be part of your remit, working alongside the Commercial Manager, Office Manager and reporting to Henri, our MD.
We will work with you to set ambitious targets and goals for bringing in new business, but it’s our responsibility to make sure you have what you need to do a really good job. Comfortable spinning plates,your work will be varied and fast-paced, with quick response times to tenders and pricing deadlines.
No - you don’t need to know anything about trees. But - if you do have an active interest in the outdoors, environment, nature, trees or even just have a bit of a thing for really big cranes and cutting tools, then that’s a real bonus.
More detail on responsibilities
· Devising the tactical sales plan based on our wider sales and marketing strategy.
· Organising sales calls, follow-ups and sales visits
· Identifying useful networking events and attending
· Identifying new prospects and key stakeholders in our identified markets
· Keeping an eye on industry trends and competitor activity to make sure we stay ahead of the curve
· Reviewing and monitoring personal sales targets
· Looking after the Customer Relationship Management CRM system – keeping it topped up, clean and tidy. Managing the pipeline of leads, prospects and deals to allow proper sales forecasting.
· Developing and maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending relevant workshops, reviewing professional publications and using personal networks
· Working closely with our marketing resources (may be in or out of house) to make sure all our sales collaterals are working hard
