Established in 1975, here at Wenzel’s The Bakers we currently have over 100 retail shops, in addition to our central bakery in Watford which is also home to our Head Office. We manufacture bread and cakes, and offer delicious hot and cold takeaway products to over 250,000 customers a week.
We are expanding our brand in both the bakery and by opening more of our retail shops. To help support us on our journey as we grow, we are now looking for a motivated and results-driven Sales Manager to support our Sales Director and to oversee a geographical region of shops governed by area managers. Predominantly based in the field, the successful candidate must have a hands on approach, and will be responsible for managing and developing a team of area managers, setting sales targets, creating strategies to meet those targets, and ensuring the smooth running of the region. The Sales Manager will also be responsible for identifying new business opportunities and building strong relationships with suppliers, and staff alike.
Pay & Hours:
We are offering a competitive pay of £50,000 - £60,000 dependent on experience.
This is a permanent, full-time position, 5 days per week (Monday to Sundays).
Place of work:
Our Wenzel’s Head Office is based at Sunley House, Olds Approach, Watford, WD18 9TB, but the Sales Manager will predominantly be based in the field, travelling to their respective retail shops within their division. Shops are based within North West London, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex and surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and develop a team of area managers, ensuring they meet their targets and objectives.
- Set sales targets and develop strategies to meet those targets.
- Oversee food hygiene compliance standards within your group of shops.
- Oversee the recruitment process for your group of stores and new store openings in your region.
- Overall responsibility for staff welfare, wellbeing and retention within your group of stores.
- Monitor and report on sales performance, making recommendations for improvement where necessary.
- Ensure the smooth running of the region and resolve any issues that arise.
- Work closely with other departments within the company, such as marketing and operations, to ensure a coordinated approach to sales and business development.
- Working closely with the HR team to manage / oversee any employee relations issues within your area, including any individual grievance, disciplinary and performance issues.
- Working closely with the Sales Director and undertaking any project work in line with the Company business as required.

Requirements:
- Proven experience of delivering retail sales growth and a desire to understand future retail climate and commercial opportunities within the sector or proven experience as a Sales Manager, ideally within the retail or food industry.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A results-driven approach with a focus on achieving targets.
- A commercial mindset with a strong understanding of retail sales.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
