We are looking for a Sales Manager to lead the team to deliver business growth plans, working cross functionally to ensure that we continually meet and exceed customer expectations. The primary focus of this role will be the day-to-day line management of an sales team, from new business development and account management to sales administration. The role requires strong leadership and effective communication skills to ensure that the team delivers excellent levels of customer service and meets company growth targets..
The Sales Manager role is core role in running the day-to-day activities of the business, leading a team to deliver business growth plans, and working cross functionally to ensure that we continually meet and exceed customer expectations.
Sales Team Management
The primary focus of this role will be the day-to-day line management of an experienced sales team, from new business development and account management to sales administration and customer service. The role requires strong leadership and communication skills to ensure that the team delivers excellent levels of customer service and meets company growth targets. This includes:
- Supporting and motivating all team members to ensure that individual and collective targets/objectives are achieved
- Supporting BDM/AMs on larger new business or customer retention projects e.g. high volume tender processes
- Implementing agreed sales initiatives/campaigns and tracking progress
- Ensuring that all relevant business processes are followed, including the maintenance of CRM system
- Leading team meetings to communicate progress, key issues and actions
- Regular one to one reviews, identifying and implementing training and development plans
Customer Service
Ongoing review of customer service levels, including:
- Ensuring account management processes are followed to promote long lasting, customer relationships
- Overseeing the customer feedback process and implementing any required improvements or changes to business processes
- Working with the Marketing Manager to create, implement and maintain an appropriate mechanism for monitoring and improving customer satisfaction
Business Intelligence
Another key function will be ongoing data gathering from the Salesforce CRM system to provide regular reports and updates across the business:
- Sales management data e.g. sales pipelines, sales team activity, customer volume targets
- KPI data, regular business updates on progress against company sales targets
- Analysis of customer data e.g. customer specific volumes and margins
- Data analysis to identify any relevant customer/market trends
- Responding to requests for additional information to support or inform wider business decisions
Market Awareness
Maintaining market awareness of key sectors and communicating to both the Sales and Leadership teams is also an important part of this role, including:
- Changes in market trends
- New opportunities for market growth or risks
- Awareness of regulatory changes within key market sectors
- Understanding competitors e.g. product and service offering and pricing
- Participation in relevant Trade Association/Trade body meetings and events
Cross Departmental Functions
- Marketing: Assisting the Marketing team with the implementation of our long-term marketing plan as well as short term projects such as web/social media content generation, working with the marketing team to implement ideas generated by the sales team
- Finance: Regular communication with finance team, reviewing ongoing credit and aged debt profile and supporting BDM/Account Managers to resolve any issues
- Production: Communicating confirmed and anticipated sales order volumes to the production team, providing data to ensure adequate production capacity and raw material supplies are in place to meet customer requirements
- IT: Working with IT department on system improvements as well as scoping new IT requirements

Experience Required
- 5 years’ experience of B2B sales
- A minimum of 2 years of team leadership in a target driven environment
- Confidence with Salesforce CRM system
- Experience of selling construction products is desirable
