DK, the world’s leading illustrated non-fiction publisher, is looking to recruit a confident and experienced Sales Manager, who is eager to build on DK’s success and help shape the direction of our Non Trade business.
Reporting to the Head of Mass Market and Non Trade Sales, the role will have ownership of devising and implementing an ambitious sales strategy for the existing account portfolio, for bringing in new business and for driving growth.
We are looking for someone who can clearly demonstrate commercial awareness and an in-depth understanding of deal mechanics; be able to prioritise and forward plan to maximise results; who possesses exceptional communication and relationship management skills.
The ideal candidate will:
- Already have a sound knowledge of how UK sales works, having built strong relationships with key non trade customers and will have the contacts and expertise to grow our sales even further.
- Meet, and exceed, sales targets for customers within the Non Trade, Custom & B2B sales channel.
- Create customer focussed sales plans to maximise sales and opportunities from existing and new customers.
- Work with key customers to understand their needs and match their requirements with DK content in creating custom projects.
- Provide bespoke solutions by working with the creative and production teams to develop new products from existing material for customers.
- Find innovative ways of selling DK books through existing and new customers, manage subscription box accounts, non trade bulk accounts and help grow sales of DK books to speciality customers.
- Manage all aspects of the sales process, from finding new leads, to creating a product and ensuring it is delivered according to the customers’ requirements.
- Negotiate individual title and promotional deals with a wide range of customers.
- Manage the supply chain by building relationships with Inventory and Distribution teams.
- Be a self-starter who uses their initiative to resolve problems
- Keep abreast of competitors and maintain market awareness

The role is based in DK’s London sales department, with a hybrid working pattern (two office days per week).
